So many people would say that as an American citizen the immigration issue does not affect me. But here's the thing. David Bradford was a Canadian citizen, legal alien and a green card holder. He came over with his parents as a teenager in the seventies. And at that time when you got a green card, there was no alien registration number. Over several decades, David and I traveled repeatedly to Canada to see his parents, with no issue. Until Donald Trump's first term. We went to Canada for his dad's memorial service. On the way back, at the border, the Young immigration official looked at his green card and said "there's no alien registration number." And he pulled us over and sent us to the border office. Where we spent 3 hours with David being interrogated about why he lived in the US but had never become a citizen. I was terrified. Sitting together and waiting, we put together a plan about what we would do if they would not let him back in the country. David. Who had been in the country for 40 years. Paying taxes. Eligible for military service, but not eligible to vote. I still have nightmares about ICE knocking on my door looking for David. And when I say he is deceased, they take his ashes from me and leave. If David were still alive today, we would probably be looking for a way to move to Canada. Because I can completely see them coming to take him and send him to a foreign prison. I have always been incredibly proud to be an American. But what is happening now. Is. Not. Right.

When I chant flowersflowers flowers, and the universe delivers. Through my Facebook by nothing group, an amazing woman who creates flower arrangements for senior centers and for her meals on Wheels clients for free, posted she had extra flowers. And gifted me several, which I will share with my neighbors. Life is good.

It is the day I discovered the pain does not go away. But it can transform. It's been a little over 3 years since he left. And I thought today would be a good day to go through some things that I have not been able to look at in over 3 years. But I'm just going to say I was seriously mistaken. Because it is not a good day to do that. And I'm not sure it's ever going to be a good day to do that. But you have to do that. And I found this. Something that I had completely erased from my mind. When we were living together, before we got engaged, he told me he had had an ID bracelet that he loved. So I got him one. With his name on it. And on the other side it says " I love you.” And I know that after he left when I was organizing his things, I found it. And I put it in the drawer that I do not look at. And then I erased it from my mind. Until I found it today. I have been doing so well. I have been finding my way to Happy. But sometimes there are setbacks. But you soldier forward. Because you want to be happy. And you know he wants you to be happy. And it for anyone struggling. With anything. I get it. I am wrapping you in love and support. And it's three and a half years since he left and it still sucks ass. But it does start to get a little bit better. If you need support. Please reach out. I love you.

It is time to let people know who ACTUALLY has the power of the purse. I haven't purchased anything from Amazon in 3 weeks. And yes it's making me twitchy, because I was previously purchasing every week. I will not be purchasing from any chain store tomorrow. Although I would purchase from Costco if I had a card. I won't be using my credit card. I won't be buying gas. I will be purchasing a couple of items from my local small grocer. Use the power of the purse to show the administration who is boss.👛👜
