Our New Name

Fifty years ago when Mr. A.T. "Gus" Norwood began Norwood Funeral Homes in Guin and Sulligent, he committed to provide the best possible funeral services, giving every family the respect that they deserve in their time of need. Scott Veal, owner of Veal Memorial, LLC., purchased and has operated Norwood Funeral Home for over two years. When Scott began, he wanted to continue the tradition of respect, loyalty, and courtesy to the families of Marion, Lamar, and the surrounding counties. At that time he began to update the facilities, website, and staff at both locations to embrace a brighter, more modern look. Now that this step has been completed, it is time to update the name to Memorial Funeral Home. We believe that this step will further the commitment Scott has made to the families that we serve and will ensure a lasting relationship. Scott is passionate about providing the communities with another 50 years of dedicated service and loyalty.

Two years ago, Scott began the renovation at the Guin location by updating the outside of the building. He replaced the brick with vinyl siding. He has recently updated the inside of the funeral home to give it a brighter, more modern look. The Sulligent facilities have also been enhanced to include new flooring, paint, and a larger entryway and lobby in order to make visiting families in their time of grief more convenient for friends. We believe that these changes will provide a seamless transition into a more modern era.

The website for Memorial Funeral Home has been upgraded to include a place where friends or family members can share memories and leave condolences. The service times and locations, including map directions, can be found for each funeral on the tributes page. You can also light a virtual candle, view pictures, and watch a memory video online. Please visit our website at www.memorialfuneralhome.net to view these changes and see other services we offer.

Additionally, we have added to our caring staff to include Shane Hughes and Tracy Parker alongside Scott Veal and David Matthews. Knowing that the loss of a loved one is a heartbreaking experience, all of our staff is dedicated to compassionate service in helping each individual family plan a personalized memorial service. Whether you choose a traditional funeral or a more modern celebration of life, our staff has the knowledge and experience that will make it a fitting memorial for your family and friends.
