People who work in construction get hurt on the job more often than other U.S. workers. Beyond the physical strain, they have the nation’s highest occupational rates for falls, slips and trips. The often-painful aftermath puts them at risk for another deadly hazard: opioid misuse.

Call to action!

There is currently no provision for mental wellness training in the proposed new U.S. Department of Labor standards for registered apprenticeship programs.

Please comment by March 18, asking the DOL to include a requirement that every apprentice receive at least one hour of instruction on dealing with stresses of the job and information about help that is available if they find themselves in a mentally stressful or dangerous place. Construction Forum
