Presidents have played a key role in expanding rights for people with disabilities in the U.S.

President George H.W. Bush signed the Americans with Disabilities Act in 1990, calling it a way to remove barriers so people with disabilities could fully join American life, and later presidents strengthened protections through updates and enforcement.

Days like today are a reminder that leadership—along with advocacy from people with disabilities themselves—can help move the country toward greater access, inclusion, and independence.

Did you know that warning signs for a heart attack can start a month before the actual event?

They include:
🚨 Unusual and persistent fatigue
🚨 Increased anxiety
🚨 Shortness of breath
🚨 Trouble sleeping

Listen to your body. If you don’t feel well and are at risk of a heart attack, keep a symptom journal and schedule a doctor’s appointment.

Black History Month is here — a time to share stories of Black activism, excellence, and everyday life through history.

This year, we’re sharing the impact of Johnnie Ann Lacy, an activist with polio who was a great advocate for independent living for those with disabilities.

Johnnie helped found the first Center for Independent Living in the United States, which sparked a movement of resource centers that help people with disabilities live in their communities.

With almost four decades of experience in the disabilities services field, ResCare Residential Services provides support to adults and children who need assistance with daily living due to a developmental, cognitive, or intellectual disability. We help people reach a higher level of independence to live their best life. Services cover 24 states with several thousand programs and a comprehensive range of services, including: Community Living, Signature Services, Signature Quality and Training Programs, Behavioral Health Support, In-home Pharmacy Solutions, Rest Assured® Telecare, and Supported Employment.
