Meet Your Therapist
My name is Dr. Belisa. My passion for helping people fight against type 2 diabetes began after my father passed away from it. I developed gestational diabetes and became pre-diabetic myself in addition to dealing with debilitating back pain. With the right guidance, I was able to reverse my type 2 pre-diabetes diagnosis. When I started my private practice business I felt strongly about bringing awareness to type 2 diabetes and the importance of proper exercise and nutrition.
However, as time passed and the new diagnosis of autism was placed on my youngest son I became more aware of the lack of play opportunities for children with autism. I also came to find that children with any label are often looked down at, pitied, and especially prejudged before anyone gets to know them. These children lack opportunities to play and develop gross motor skills because society just doesn’t understand how they process their environment. As a therapist, I know how important playtime is not only for gross motor development but for sensory and social development as well.
I believe God allows situations into our lives so that we can make a difference in other's lives through our testimonies. My heart is being led to pursue my 1st passion of working with kids and showing my community what an awesome kid my son as well all children with any developmental diagnosis’ can be.
I want to bring a safe fun place for special needs children in our community, but in the meantime, I will provide PT services and education in homes or via video conferencing to families in English and Spanish.
If you have concerns about your child's development please reach out so I can provide free screening to get you started in the right direction.
In the meantime meet my son who is strong-willed yet very empathetic to others. He loves to cuddle and play rough at times (what boy doesn't 😁) He is sensitive to loud sudden noises but enjoys making his own lol. He's smart, funny, caring, and a tough little dude so don't mess with him or his big bro 😄. Yes, he is diagnosed with autism but that doesn't define who he is.
