Life feels very stressful right now for a lot of people, and in response I'm seeing an increase in new clients and people wanting to learn Reiki which is fantastic. For a while now most of my clients have been animals.

Many people feel like Reiki is a scam. I don't necessarily blame them. I felt the same way for a long time because I didn't understand it. When a practitioner talks about Reiki it can sound outlandish and it's easy to react in a close-minded way. But the reality is that I deal with human and animal victims of injury and trauma of many sorts, and I can do it from across the globe. This week I worked on a horse in Marina, a dog in Germany, another in Atlanta...and people in California and Ohio.
It seems that right now people are talking about repeating patterns and cycle breaking. This post, which no one will likely read anyhow, is about breaking one of my cycles; a fear of rejection. I understand that there will always be people unwilling to understand the good that I do, and that's okay. It isn't going to stop me from doing it.

An unexpected twist

My initial exposure to Reiki was not a positive one. A family member seeking eternal youth had fallen victim to numerous scams and called to tell me she’d learned Reiki and could not only provide medical treatment over the phone, she could fix non-living things as well. I was understandably skeptical. A few weeks later she called because her car wouldn’t start. She’d tried everything, but the Reiki wasn’t working. In case you are wondering, the car was out of fuel.

Flashing forward an undisclosed number of decades and the word Reiki keeps appearing, randomly, and regularly. So I take a class, and life changes. I found my career no longer fulfilling, and to put it unkindly, intolerable. I continued my Reiki journey, advancing from Level 1 through to Master Level. Through the journey I continued to doubt as I learned advanced techniques, but I’ve been impressed with Reiki time and again. I still put gas in my car, and if the check engine light comes on, I’m taking it to a garage. But when someone calls me or comes over an needs help, I’m quite pleased to have another tool in my belt.
