Battles not over
Invitation is to all who has time to care,
Every day, I confront the painful consequences of deliberate measures aimed at stripping me of my identity. Policies have resentfully stollen all my opportunities. with This isolation and constant retraumatization serve as a stark reminder of a history steeped in cultural erasure and abandonment. this lead towards the repossession of my vehicle, jeopardized my housing, and resulted in the loss of vital employment practices. I am left with a deep sense of questioning: are the systems designed to protect me, in fact, built on a foundation of oppression that continues to prioritize assimilation over our fundamental right to exist?
My narrative is not mine alone—it represents the silent cry of every survivor who has been marginalized by policies that value erasure over recognition. Although legal precedents such as Santa Clara Pueblo v. Martinez and United States v. Kagama are meant to secure our treaty rights and protections, the framework I face today fails repeatedly, built upon the very principles that have oppressed generations before me.
I call for litigation and community engagement—not as acts of revenge but as necessary steps toward reclaiming my rights and restoring my dignity. The overwhelming weight of intergenerational trauma and the paralysis brought on by constant retraumatization must not continue unchecked. I must stand up and reclaim my Indigenous identity. I urge anyone who cares to join me in demanding trauma-informed healthcare, financial relief, and a legal system that protects rather than erasure. I recently just finally become reconnected to my language community and culture. to endure in this denial of my very identity. is debilitating distress that affects my health effectively eliminating my right to live in awareness and sensitivity towards healing and recovery from the ongoing violations and neglect and define us as Canadian indigenous descendants.
Since I began my petition on April 9th, I have received the support of 26 incredible individuals committed to demanding accountability and change. As of today, April 15, 2021, every signature is a powerful stand against Indigenous erasure in the United States.
