What is Functional Integration, anyway?

Ever heard of Feldenkrais but aren’t quite sure what happens in a 1:1 session?

Functional Integration (FI) is a gentle, hands-on somatic learning experience. I guide your body through small, slow movements designed to help your nervous system re-pattern itself—to reduce pain, increase ease, and discover new possibilities.

It's not massage. It's not adjustment. It’s about curiosity, comfort, and connection—so your body can learn from the inside out.

FI is done fully clothed, usually lying on a low table, and every session is customized to you.

You don’t have to do anything “right.” You just get to feel and explore.

💡 Curious? You’re invited.

Try a session
You don’t have to be in pain forever.
You don’t have to push harder to get better.
You don’t have to fix yourself.

You can learn, gently. You can find new ways of moving, sensing, living in your body. You can reorganize.

That’s what Feldenkrais is about.

🌿 I currently have space for 1–2 new clients.
📍At my home studio in Rosman, or at your house

What does it feel like? Feldenkrais sessions often feel like this:
- “My back has space again.”
- “I feel like I can breathe.”
- “That movement used to feel impossible—and now it’s just… easy.”
- “I don’t even know what you did, but I feel like myself again.”

It’s not about fixing. It’s about learning.

Functional Integration is slow, quiet, subtle—and deeply powerful. People leave sessions feeling taller, lighter, more grounded, or just more at home in their body.

This work helps your nervous system reorganize—at its own pace. No force. No pressure. Just support, attention, and change that actually lasts.

You’re invited to experience it yourself.

📍Text me at (828) 278-8239 to book a session at my home studio in Rosman or your house; or visit ripplecollectivenc.com/feldenkrais to learn more.

"I was fortunate in that a frozen shoulder problem I'd had for several months cleared up after a session with Alex. I'd been through physical therapy, chiropractic, and even steroid shots with no relief. A simple class with reaching and trying to move in different ways gave me relief by the next day." - Kim

"Alex has such an intelligent and gentle manner about her that it was with full confidence that I put myself in her hands. She helped ease my movement and made me aware of the body's alignment and how to adjust it. She and Feldenkrais really made a difference." - Susan
