Don't Die to be Thin Happy Healthy Living Everyday was a struggle to get her to eat and when she passed away, she was barely 80 lbs and 5’7”.

For years I have struggled with food issues and my weight, so when my Grandma died In September of 2013 from the long term effects of Anorexia and from my experience, bulimia as well, it was a huge wake up call for me. My grandma struggled with her body image her entire life even on her death bed she refused to eat even a small bite of rice, not because she couldn't, but because she simply didn't

want to, she didn't want to “get fat”. The doctors were trying to get her to gain weight so they could release her from the rehabilitation center, which to someone who has food issues such as her, they may as well have asked her to put a gun to her head, instead of a spoon in her hand. So, here is a little background on how I decided to break the cycle and become a better, healthier, happier me. Being overweight in our society is scary and intimidating especially when all you want to do is feel healthy and fit and all that society is doing is making you think you can pop a pill or have a bowl of cereal twice a day, hit the the treadmill and you will be bikini ready in 6 weeks, well...that is awesome if you are a fraternity girl trying to lose the freshman 15 before spring break, I am talking about sustainable weight loss, that is realistic, I am a real woman, who likes real food, so why would I want to be on a food plan that doesn't let me eat? Don’t get me wrong, I have those days where I fall off the healthy eating wagon, but at least I know now, that it won’t kill me and cause me to gain 10 pounds of actual weight when I do so. I no longer have to obsess over what I am eating, I just eat! I refuse to diet any more, diet is just die with a t and I am saddened that it took me losing my grandmother to realize how important it is to not DIE to be thin!
