Smoking remains one of the leading causes of lung cancer, and can be a poisoning risk for kids. The best way to protect your health and your family is to quit.
Kids are naturally curious, and even one cigarette or a cigarette butt can be dangerous if swallowed. Ni****ne poisoning in children can cause nausea or vomiting, a fast heart rate, tremors or weakness, and, in severe cases, trouble breathing or seizures.
Follow these tips to keep your kids safe:
✅ Store ci******es and ashtrays up high and out of reach of children.
✅ Empty ashtrays and dispose of cigarette butts safely.
✅ Talk with children about the dangers of ni****ne and why it’s harmful.
If a child eats or swallows a cigarette or a cigarette butt, call Poison Help at 1-800-222-1222 right away.

Energy drinks may promise a quick energy boost, but they also pose real risks, especially for kids and teens.
Too much caffeine, or mixing it with other substances, can cause:
🔴 Rapid heart rate
🔴 Anxiety or jitters
🔴 Upset stomach
🔴 Trouble sleeping
Energy drinks are not recommended for children or teens. Talk with your kids about the risks, and keep energy drinks out of reach of younger children.
If someone feels sick after having too much caffeine, call Poison Help at 1-800-222-1222. Our experts are available 24/7 with free, confidential advice.

🎃 Glow sticks and Halloween go hand in hand. Each Halloween, Poison Centers see a major spike in glow product–related cases. On a typical day, fewer than 20 cases are reported, but on Halloween, that number jumps to about 260, more than 13 times higher than usual!
Most glow stick exposures are mild and preventable. The liquid inside can cause irritation to the skin, mouth, or eyes, so remind kids not to chew on or break open glow products. Always supervise young children, especially toddlers who may put them in their mouths.
If someone bites or breaks a glow stick, call Poison Help at 1-800-222-1222 right away.
