If you're like me you dig your heels in and head in the other direction. Now ask yourself - am I the one who's treating me harshly? If there is one thing I'd like to get rid of it's the negative connotation that "taking care of yourself" has. I'm sure most of you have heard that you need to feed yourself before you can feed others, give yourself oxygen first, any of the quotes that say you can't give yourself to others before you take care of you. Salad can be beautiful as well as healing and nutritious.
Nasturtium for Vitamin C
Borage for potassium
Fennel for digestion
Beebalm for overall health
Basil for anxiety and digestion
Kale for Vitamins C and K
Add olive oil and white wine vinegar, a touch of salt, and you have a lovely light lunch for a hot summer day.

That's why there are so many pharmaceuticals selling anti-histamines - they suppress the body's natural response to allergens, ie. coughing, sneezing, itchy eyes, and fatigue to name a few. As we continue to navigate these uncharted waters I wanted you to know I’m still here. For the next 2 weeks I am offering free half hour sessions virtually (FaceTime, Skype, emails, etc) to answer any questions I can or just to listen.

While I try to not label foods as “bad” or “good” I do have a bit of an issue with “meat substitutes”. Commercial meat substitutes have eleventy-million ingredients and are processed beyond recognition. Eating simple meals prepared well can be enough without adding phony meats to the plate, and you probably won’t even know they’re missing.

This link has some very simple vegan meal ideas to start you off if you want to cut down on the meats or want to avoid “meat substitutes” - and you can always contact me for questions or other ideas.

This is what we need to hear. Do you self-care or do you self-soothe? What’s the difference and which do you need when?

As I lay here taken down by a tweaked back I realize that the message I needed from this is while I practice self-care I haven’t been doing nearly enough to keep my body from telling me “stop and rest”. It’s so easy to push ourselves aside and not pay attention to the body’s signals that we are pushing them to their limits.

What are your thoughts on this? What do you do for actual self-care? Or do you only self-soothe?
