Frederick Meditation Center Mindfulness Meditation to Calm Your Mind and Restore Your Body. We continue to honor these founding principles as we expand and grow our presence on-line.

In 2013, the Frederick Meditation Center was founded by Heather Stang, MA, C-IAYT on the following principles;

- You already have an innate capacity to reduce stress and anxiety.
- Meditation is one way you can unlock this superpower.
- Join us as to create a peaceful & awakened community in a friendly and supportive environment. As we learn to heal ourselves, and cultivate wise and caring hearts, we can help heal the world. We can open our hearts and minds to all beings without exclusion. We declare ourselves a spiritual sanctuary and a refuge for all. We welcome all people, and offer teachings that will help you reduce the anxiety and stress that comes from simply being human. We honor and protect those who come here seeking the teachings of liberation.

For those of you in Ray's sphere, you may have noticed his decreasing energy over the last several months and more recently, his complete absence in general.

I wanted to share his health journey with you all, so you can know what's going on and how you might be able to help both near and far.

In short, he had brain surgery on May 1 and it's been determined that he has a stage 4 glioblastoma.

We are in the midst of doing all of his pre-treatment appointments and will begin chemo & radiation the first week of June.

He is doing amazing and by the look of him, you'd never know he just had a very large tumor removed. However, he is very easily overwhelmed by stimuli, especially sounds. If you reach out by text, he may or may not get back to you.

The easiest way to keep up with what's going on is to sign up for CaringBridge.

It is free and you don't have to send any money. the request to keep his page going is well beyond 6 months at this point and goes directly to caring bridge, not us.

Please stay in the loop here:

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

Curious about meditation? Not know where to start? Wanting to deepen your understanding?

We are all taught about the fight-or-flight stress response in grade school. But did you know that your body has the natural ability to cultivate peace and wellness? Accessing this superpower is easy when you have the right tools!

Join certified mindfulness meditation teacher, Ray Manyoky, for this fun, introductory class that will teach you how to relax your body and control your mind so you can live a full and happy life. This course is interactive with short talks, practice and reflections.

"I learned so much in tonight's Beginner's Meditation class. There was much more information covered than I had imagined. I especially appreciate your teaching us about the human brain and how our mind works. And, now that my awareness has been raised, I will take note of how my body responds to the stress I encounter throughout my day and start using some of your suggested techniques to mitigate the stress."

This course meets on five Mondays from 7:00 – 8:30pm ET via Zoom
January 29 and February 5, 12, 19, and 26
Course Cost $175

Our Story

In 2013, Heather Stang founded the Frederick Meditation Center as a place to offer Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy to the community. Her mission was to offer a sacred space where everyone could feel safe, supported and in a community of like-minded people. Classes were offered so that students and practitioners could learn how to make positive changes in their lives and to relieve the stress & tension just by paying attention to their breath and their body.

Our mission continues to provide practitioners with the ancient teachings to manifest wisdom and compassion in all aspects of their lives, and for the benefit of all beings. We continue to offer a sacred space where everyone feels safe and part of a growing community of like-minded people.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we have shut our doors in downtown Frederick. We continue to offer all our classes in the virtual realm of Zoom. With this new normal, we have unlimited possibilities.

In 2020, Heather transferred ownership of the Frederick Meditation Center to Ray Manyoky. Going forward, his mission is to continue to expand the Frederick Meditation Center and to uphold our original mission.
