How do you know when you’re ready? Like truly ready? To move across the country, or to leave the job, or end the marriage. To start the new business or to start doing the thing your heart longs for?
Time and time again, I’ve come across this rhetoric that if you really long for something, if you’re not doing it, you’re succumbing to fear.
Maybe for some, that could be true. But what if we make the move, the changes or say yes to a new way of being when we’re truly all in and ready?
What a novel concept, right?
For some, (and I include myself in this process) there are other things that are important, other responsibilities that I committed to, like my children for example, that delay me from certain experiences I long for.
And this mirrors our “parts” that come online to help us manage our lives.
So for now, I am the mother, not the globe trotting creative, I would love to be. For now, I stay put learning how to build community where I am, and honor the stability required of me at this point in my life.
But I know, deep down, when my responsibilities have been fufilled, when my parents have passed on, I will move far away from MN.
And this doesn’t mean I’m “afraid” or succumbing to fear. It means I understand the process and I’m not rushing it.
Sometimes the parts of me that want my life NOW, throw a tantrum, but it’s usually short lived. Sometimes those parts completely die and I allow new parts of me more aligned with my life to be born.
I tend to believe, whatever is meant for you, doesn’t pass you by. Sometimes we have to remember that what we think is meant for us, might be a fantasy (or for my astrology friends, connected to our south node) Or it might show up differently than what we expect and unless we allow life to unfold as it will, we might miss all the times life showed up for us and we were hyper focused on it being a certain way.
It reminds me of the 5 of Cups. The man in the photo is glum, looking down at 3 spilled cups, but completely oblivious to the 2 full cups behind him. It also reminds me of the Wheel of Fortune and Temperance. Ironically, many themes in the Major Arcana seem to work with the theme of trusting the timing of your life.
Sometimes life has gifts for us and we have to exercise a little patience. We have to accept the path we took in life and our responsibilities. We need to trust ourselves and the wisdom of our souls. And in the meantime, we can honor all the pieces of ourselves that exist, while knowing each piece will have its time.
So maybe you’re not afraid to make the changes, maybe you’re not there yet. Maybe you’ll be ready exactly when you need to be and that’s ok.
Readiness isn’t something to be rushed, forced or put a time stamp on. It happens when you’re completely, wholeheartedly ready on all levels and not a moment before.
Sending love. 💕
