Simplify Saturday✨!

Do your joints hurt?

Do you have injuries that may prevent you from lifting as heavy as you once did in your 20’s?

I started experimenting with lifting with minimal rest periods. My body feels full, tired, and pushed to the M A X!

Today was leg 🦵🏼 day 🎉 (my favorite day)!

Leg press
Leg curls
Deficit box squats
Single leg monkey foot curls (pictured)
Leg extensions

Perform each exercise as such:
15 reps
45 sec rest
15 reps
30 sec rest
15 reps
15 sec rest
Then GO BACK DOWN!
15 reps
15 sec rest
15 reps
30 sec rest
15 reps
45 sec rest

Let me know you’re walking 🚶🏽‍♀️ after this!

Mindful Monday ✨!

I find that when you start thinking AND saying what you REALLY want, your mind will automatically shift and pull you in that direction 💕.

It doesn’t matter where you starting point is.

It doesn’t matter if you’ve never done it before.

It doesn’t matter what doctors say.

It doesn’t matter what others say.

It doesn’t matter what your odds are.

It doesn’t matter what your limitations may be.

All that matters is your

Wellness Wednesday 🤩!

Here are my top 5 wellness tips to give you some simple ways to improve your health and start living your life to the fullest without chronically dieting!

1. Chew Your Food. Sounds pretty basic and should go without saying BUT we all forget, and I am right there with you. We are so used to chewing feverishly or not chewing at all because we are so busy and want to get to either the next bite or our next task. Chewing is one of the first steps of digestion (thinking, smelling and salivating are the ones that come before that) and is a crucial step most of us miss. Have you ever eaten so fast you have a stomach ache?Slowing down and chewing will help you realize sooner when you are full. Start counting how many times you chew per bite today to see if you chew at all!

2. Sit Down to Eat. Another one that should go without saying, but how many of us eat in the car, standing up, at our desk but on our computer, in front of the TV with a plate on our lap? I could go on, but you get the point. We are so out of touch with food and meal times that we eat out of habit, mindlessly and in a hurry. I urge you to sit down to eat and not in front of a TV or computer but at a table or surface and really enjoy your food.

3. Drink water and enough of it! How many times do you reach the end of the day only to realize you never drank a sip of water? Many of us get by with coffee, food and sugar sweetened beverages when our bodies really need WATER. Grab a water bottle and keep it with you.

4. Move throughout the day. This one is especially for all you 1-hour fitness couch potatoes. You know, those of us who work out really hard 1 hour a day but spend the rest of the day sitting in a chair? This is not great for your health. Find ways to get moving. Maybe it’s a short walk on your lunch break. Maybe it’s petitioning to have a stand up work station. Maybe it’s being creative and making your own stand up desk. You get the point. Whatever it is, get moving DURING the whole entire day!

5. Get to Bed. Seriously. We are walking zombies and sometimes we need to go to bed. You need 7 to 9 hours of sleep to be at your optimal health.

Happy Tuesday ✨!

How much should I exercise everyday?

Get at least 150 minutes of moderate aerobic activity or 75 minutes of vigorous aerobic activity a week, or a combination of moderate and vigorous activity.

Spread that sh** during the course of a week! To greater health benefits and weight loss OR maintaining weight loss, at least 300 minutes a week is recommended. But even small amounts of physical activity are helpful. Being active for short periods of time throughout the day can add up to provide health benefit.

Do strength 💪🏼 training exercises for all major muscle groups at least two times a week. Aim to do a single set of each exercise using a weight or resistance level heavy enough to tire your muscles after about 12 to 15 repetitions.

Happy Thursday ✨!

Joe and I do one little thing for each other daily…for him, today it was making my coffee ☕️🤗. (I secretly believe it’s because he loves this cup 🤣).

Let’s shift this idea 💡….

What is one little thing you can do for YOURSELF today?

I’ll go first.

Start with gratitude. What is one thing you’re grateful for today? Mine is being surrounded by loving friends, family and clients 🙃.

Then move. It doesn’t have to be cardio. It NEEDS to be something you enjoy. Maybe yoga 🧘‍♀️, or taking a morning walk. I prefer to get on cardio and read a good book 📖.

Next Fuel. Don’t skip out the door without fueling your body. I usually stick to the same ol’ oats and protein 💪🏼 shake.

Now stop. Just for today. Give yourself grace to stop there. Pick just ONE thing to do for yourself today and let me know in the comments 💕.

Our bodies are forever changing!

Here are some tips for improving your self body image:

Listen to your body. Eat when you are hungry and rest when you are tired.

Change the messages you are giving yourself! Identify the negative ways that you speak to yourself and make a decision to replace that self-talk with more realistic, loving, and positive statements!

Throw out the bathroom scale!
You are much more than a number on a scale. Instead focus on the most important things about yourself like your unique talents, qualities, skills, and characteristics.
Think of your body as an instrument instead of as an ornament.

Be thankful every day for all of the wonderful things you can do in your body such as dance, play, run, enjoy good food, and give hugs!

Exercise to feel good and be healthy, not to lose weight or punish your body.

Find fun ways to add more physical activity in your life, such as going for a walk with a friend.

Move with your head held high!!!! If you act like someone with a healthy body image and good self-confidence, the “act” will eventually become reality.

Wear comfortable clothes that fit. Clothes that are too large or too small tend to create physical discomfort and may make you feel even worse about your body. Clothes that fit you well are designed to complement your figure. Ignore the size tags if possible because you are not a number.

Question ads that perpetuate unrealistic standards for our bodies. Instead of saying, "What’s wrong with me," say, "What’s wrong with this ad?" Write the company.

Set your own standards instead of letting the media set them for you.

Surround yourself with people who are supportive!!!

SMARTER > HARDER

Remember that working out smarter is always better than harder. Everyone has different goals and different bodies so there isn't really a "one size fits all" approach to the gym. It's important to first be really clear with yourself about your fitness goals and plan accordingly. For a beginner, start with 30 minutes of exercise a day for five days a week. If you're more physically fit and looking to lean out or tone up, I recommend doing at least 45 minutes for six days a week. Mix it up, try to get in a good amount of cardio and have F U N with your workouts. Exercise is all about sustainability and creating new habits that lead to real lifestyle change. That, combined with a balanced and healthy diet, will elicit big results.

Don’t underestimate the importance of resetting! Something we get so caught up in our lives and what’s going on around us that we become overwhelmed and tense.

Sometimes you have to unplug yourself from the word for a moment, so you can reset yourself.

I’ve always been scared to step away from social media in fear of not answering potential clients and answering questions for my fellow followers. However, I wouldn’t be doing justice to myself if I didn’t. Self love and self care is taking time for yourself. It’s excepting where you are as you are.

Logging off for a little while.
