“I had to put my trust in you guys. You were my only hope after getting out of prison. Some people take advantage, walk off and return to the streets—but we worked hard for this. We used every service you offered, and now we’re walking off into our own apartment, ready for a better life.” -John, WPCC Client

After 23 years apart, John and Angeleen reunited in our Recuperative Care program. And now, they’re walking into a new chapter together. 💛 This resilient couple made the most of their time in our program and never gave up on their future.

Today, they’ve officially completed the program and moved into their own apartment. We’re so proud to share their journey from hope to healing.

Each client that comes through our program has a story that matters. But some stories stay with us long after a client’s last day in our program.

We’re beyond grateful to the California Community Foundation for awarding us a $50,000 grant to support our Street Medicine program in Long Beach! 💜
This funding allows us to expand from 4 to 7 days a week, meeting people where they are and providing critical, compassionate healthcare to those experiencing homelessness.
With more days on the ground, we can build deeper trust, prevent hospitalizations, and connect more individuals to housing and supportive services. 🏥✨

This month, rather than recognizing just one individual, we’re proud to shine a spotlight on our incredible El Centro Street Medicine Team. Composed of one dedicated RN and two outstanding MAs, this small but mighty team consistently shows up with heart, grit, and compassion.
In the face of triple-digit heat, they continue to deliver high-quality care to some of the most vulnerable individuals in our community—never wavering in their commitment, and always with a warm smile and a can-do attitude. Their work is not easy, but their impact is immeasurable.
Thank you for embodying our mission and values and for reminding us all what it means to lead with kindness and purpose. We see you, we appreciate you, and we are inspired by you.

From Long Beach to Heber to Carlsbad, our Street Medicine teams show up with compassion, every single day. We believe healthcare should meet people where they are, in every sense of the word.

Our teams provide critical medical care directly on the streets, building trust with individuals who often have nowhere else to turn. This connection is just the beginning. Our goal is to walk alongside them, offering pathways to stability, health, and housing.

We’re deeply grateful to our dedicated Street Medicine providers and to all who do this life-changing work across California. 💜

Stability takes time — and heart. 💜
As Mental Health Awareness Month comes to a close, we're spotlighting Aldo, one of our incredible Safety Support Coordinators (SSCs), as he shares how his own experiences inform his work and help him lead with patience, purpose, and understanding.

At WPCC, our SSCs do more than keep our sites safe — they bring compassion into every interaction, meeting clients where they are and walking alongside them on their journey.

By de-escalating with empathy and supporting mental wellness, Aldo and the SSC team are helping build a future where safety and support go hand-in-hand.

Sometimes, all someone needs is a little support and a place to feel seen. 💛 We're incredibly proud to share our very first of many success stories from the Community Care Campus Imperial Valley site—and it reminds us why we do this work.

Brian came to us in mid-February and had been experiencing homelessness, but he never let his circumstances define him. From day one, Brian brought hope, resilience, and respect into our community. He showed up for himself — attending his weekly SUD classes, engaging in services, and treating everyone around him with kindness.

With the support of Encompass Housing and his own determination, Brian took every step toward stability. He searched tirelessly for housing, and on April 8, he signed the lease to his very own studio apartment in Brawley, CA. This week, he received his keys — and with them, a fresh start. 🗝️🏠

To Brian: thank you for inspiring us and sharing your journey with us. It's a powerful reminder that healing happens when people are met with compassion, dignity, and opportunity.

This is just the beginning — for Brian, and for many others to come.
