OneBlood was established on January 27, 2012 when three of Florida’s independent, not-for-profit blood centers merged. Together, OneBlood brings more than 100 years of lifesaving experience to the community. OneBlood collects nearly one million units of blood annually, operates more than 90 donor centers and deploys nearly 200 of its signature Big Red Buses throughout its service area for blood drives. When Merritt was battling her rare cancer, she relied on platelet donors to give the gift of life so that she could fight for hers ❤️. Platelets must be used within 5 days of collection, so cancer patients like Merritt rely on consistent donors.

"There are few things that make me as happy as donating platelets does! Especially when I get the email telling me that my donation was a match for someone and what hospital it was sent to! I absolutely love helping others, especially something like this. It takes little to no effort on my end and I still get to help dozens of people!
