Instead of picking their favorite foods, use this as an opportunity to introduce them to something new so they’ll learn about the different types of tastes that they can experience including: sweetness, saltiness, sourness, bitterness, and savoriness. Describe each and how it is our taste buds’ job to determine the taste profile. See if your children can identify the different tastes and be sure to explain that just because they may enjoy the flavor, doesn’t mean it is always healthy.
