Dear Friends of Compassionate Expressions,

This post is extremely belated but wanted to let you all know that "Yes, I Am Safe" up here on the mountaintop after Helene's uninvited visit. Feeling Blessed.

(FYI: Thankfully, all my lodging & Spa guests had cancelled before the storm hit.) All of my accommodations/buildings/temple were untouched by the storm and the animals are fine. (They just want their meals on time “rain or shine!”) Some minimal damage to Meditation Island and my gravel driveway is all. So very grateful.

We did have around 36-hours of constant rains...winds were not bad. Fortunately, here in Leicester, we are at a higher elevation...so we did not get the flooding Asheville did. My creek was rushing like crazy... have never seen the water so high...but the water ran downhill.

We only had about a 24-hour power outage where I am. Fortunately, I had invested in an automatic generator so had electricity to the Mountain Inn throughout the whole storm.

As a result of all the national news covering the storm in the Asheville area, most of my October lodging guests (normally Oct. is the busiest month of the year) are cancelling. But the local roads to us are fine and my repeat guests throughout the years are still coming. So yes, we are up and running! By the Grace of the Divine.

Feeling the heartache for all the beautiful people around the Asheville area, who lost their homes and businesses. Still feels surreal.

Thank you to each and everyone, who reached out to me to make sure I was safe. It truly touched my heart deeply. After 25-years of offering this sanctuary here at Compassionate Expressions, I was reminded big-time, I have an incredible HEART-centered Extended Family in you all! May this sentiment be contagious...to all of Humanity! May we all think of benefiting each other.

It is with a swelling heart of Love & Gratitude that I announce to you that my beloved Nubian goat Misty has crossed over the Rainbow Bridge. Misty lived a full and happy life of 17+ years entertaining the guests here at Compassionate Expressions. Even the various goat doctors who attended to her, marveled at her health and longevity, often saying to me: "Whatever you are doing... keep doing it". But I can't take full credit for her wanting to hang out on earth for so long. I attribute a big part to YOU, my guests through the years, who loved on her and fed her enticing fruit & veggie treats! This goat was Soul Satisfied! Please enjoy a more recent photo of Misty, my guest Mandy Price took at an auspicious moment that captured a Rainbow over her. Thank you Misty for your exceptional service here at C.E. and the Joy you brought me and countless others.

Dear C.E. Friends,

It is with a tender heart that I announce to you that my dear friend Lenora Bonner has passed away at the age of 68. She was instrumental in supporting me to follow my guidance (over 20-years ago) and in helping me find this precious property, you know as Compassionate Expressions (C.E.) Mountain Inn & Healing Sanctuary. As some of you might remember, she also helped me as an Innkeeper here for many years.
She was a fabulous massage therapist in the early days of C.E. before she began having a heart problems. She lived 20-years longer than the doctors predicted - enough to see my vision of a retreat property and healing sanctuary through to it's maturity.
Lenora was an avid animal lover and had quite the brilliant mind. She was just a hair shy of getting her Ph.d in Clinical Psychology when she was diagnosed with cancer (before I met her in 1998).
So in a very real sense (perhaps it explains her love of cats :) she lived 9-lives in this very incarnation. Please help me celebrate her life and feel free to share your sentiments! I love you Lenora, my friend!

Dear CE friends,
I feel compelled to share with you some news about several important members of the CE furry & feathered staff here. In the past 2-months, three of my animal children have passed over to the great Divine. I know some of you have been Inn guests here before and have enjoyed their interaction with you during your stay. So I would like to honor Bella (my sassy and confident Plymouth white hen), Rusty my (gentle giant) rescue dog of 14-years and Lola (my amazing Americuna indoor hen) who was also the longest living hen I've had at age 6-years). What is especially noteworthy, is Lola watched over Rusty like a mother hen during the last week of his life as he was slowing declining. Please see pictures below. It almost feels like Lola wanted to help Rusty transition before she departed....she bonded with him so much inside the house.

Sending LOVE & BLESSINGS to all of YOUR animal children out there, who enrich your lives as much as these sweet souls did mine.

Remember my post about adding six baby chicks to the Compassionate Expressions mini-farm back in March? Well, technically they are teenagers now. The yellow chicks in the photo (Buff Orpingtons) both just starting laying mini-eggs! They are something else. They are laying over a month earlier than what is consider "normal". Check out the size of the baby eggs next to the elder egg.

I feel compelled to share with you all a music video of a song I wrote with Denise Gentilini many moons ago. Denise lives in the Denver, Colorado area - so this song we collaborated on is sadly very timely and poignant now. Denise is a great composer, who I've had the honor to co-write a number of songs with including our Emmy awarding winning song: "A Road Less Traveled". May we pray for peace in this world.
