***8:55pm Update - The roadway is back open to all traffic.***

Crash Investigation - Road Closed

The Camden County Sheriff's Office and NC State Highway Patrol are currently investigating a serious traffic crash on NC Highway 343 South near Seymour/Ivy Neck.
There are many emergency vehicles in the area. PLEASE avoid this area so we can work safely. Choose alternate routes as the road is expected to be closed until further notice.
We will send an update when traffic is returned to normal.

We are proud to share that Pasquotank-Camden Central Communications and Camden County EMS have been honored with the 2025 Stroke “Brain Saver” Award from Sentara Albemarle Medical Center!

This prestigious award—presented by Kate Turner, Stroke Program Coordinator—recognizes exceptional care that results in positive neurological outcomes for stroke patients over the first 24 hours of care. Since the award program began, only four recipients have earned this honor, making this recognition all the more significant.

We are proud to share a life-saving success story from our Camden County EMS family.

Our crews responded to a residence for a patient suffering a cardiac event who soon went into cardiac arrest. Thanks to the rapid initiation of advanced life support and the exceptional, coordinated care of our responders, the patient was successfully resuscitated—achieving Return of Spontaneous Circulation (ROSC). The patient was airlifted by Nightingale Air Ambulance from the South Camden Shiloh Fire Station to Norfolk General Hospital. We’re thrilled to report that the patient made a full recovery.

Today, Chief Joe Zaller and Deputy Chief Caitlyn Colson had the honor of presenting Captain Brian Nichols, Paramedic Mark Soady, and EMT Emily Givien with our Cardiac Arrest ROSC Award and the Camden County EMS Challenge Coin, recognizing their outstanding skill, commitment, and dedication to saving lives.

We would also like to extend our sincere gratitude to the partners who played a vital role in this successful outcome:

We know you Camden County, and we know what's coming!

July 4th is a couple days away and we know Camden County loves a good reason to party. Each year we are called to numerous reports of unlawful fireworks, unsafe use of fireworks, and injuries sustained while using fireworks. Please be safe around pyrotechnics. While they are fun, they can cause life altering injuries.

Any fireworks that explode or aerial are prohibited by State law (NCGS 14-410). Penalties for violating pyrotechnic laws is a Class 2 misdemeanor and can include a fine up to $500 and up to 60 days in jail. You could also be criminally and civilly liable for any injuries or property damages caused by their use.

🚑 Welcome to the Team, Paramedic Moreau! 🚑
Camden County EMS is proud to welcome Paramedic Moreau as the newest full-time member of our team! Paramedic Moreau joined our team January as a part-time Paramedic, and has now transitioning to a full-time paramedic. Paramedic Moreau With an impressive career in emergency medical services since 2006, Moreau brings nearly two decades of hands-on experience and leadership to our department. In addition to his extensive paramedic background, he is also a Certified Cardiographic Technician, previous Anesthesia Technician, and previous EMS Instructor. His diverse skill set and depth of knowledge will be a tremendous asset to both our team and the Camden County community. We are excited to have him on board and look forward to the positive impact he’ll make!
