🎆 Happy 4th of July from all of us at EPHC! 🎆
We hope your day is full of sunshine, snacks, and a little bit of sparkle—just like our friend Aristotle rollin’ through in style, and the lovely Lettie rockin’ her sun hat with holiday flair! 🐾😎

A quick reminder that we are closed today so our team can enjoy the holiday too, but we’ll be back open bright and early at 8:00 AM tomorrow to help with all your pet's needs. 💙

✨ And while we don’t see tortoises here at EPHC, we absolutely love Ari because she belongs to our very own Heather! 🐢💕

Stay safe, keep your pets comfy through the fireworks, and give them a little holiday treat from us!

🌺 July Pets of the Month: Kai & Kona! 🌺

This inseparable duo is Kai and Kona—two Rhodesian Ridgebacks with big personalities and even bigger hearts! They’ll be turning 2 on July 31st, and we’re so excited to feature them this month. 💛

Their names come from their family's love of Hawaii (where their parents got married!) and they even have a human sister with a Hawaiian name, too. 🐾

Kona is the queen of walkies, while Kai is all about the snuggles. They’re a perfect pair of opposites—and they’ve definitely kept their family entertained! One time, sweet little Kona completely destroyed her bed and sat right in the middle of the fluff like an innocent angel. Another time? Let’s just say their kitchen table didn’t survive the teething phase... 😅

Nicknames? Oh, they have plenty:
Kai is often called Kai Bear or even Scooby-Doo, and Kona answers to Konas, Konaskis, Konako, and Scrappy-Doo—fitting, right?

If you see them out and about, they might bark at you (or your bike, or your motorcycle...) but don’t worry—they’re not mean, just a little shy. ❤️

We’re so lucky to have these two as part of our EPHC family!

📣 Noodle & Piper have something important to say! 📣

Next Friday is the 4th of July, and while humans may enjoy the fireworks… our furry friends? Not so much. 😬💥

These two would like to gently (but firmly) remind everyone that we will be closed for the holiday—so if your pet needs calming medications for fireworks, thunderstorms, or just the general chaos, please call us as soon as possible to get them what they need in time!

💊 Early planning = less stress for you, your pet, and your vet team 🐾

💖 Little Miss Molly Sue 💖
This sweet girl spent last Thursday with us for her abdominal ultrasound and absolutely melted everyone with her perfect manners and tiny tongue blep 😭💘

Molly Sue was the definition of gentle and calm during her visit, and we were honored to care for her. Just look at that face! UGH. We love her so much. 🐾✨

📣 PSA for pet parents: If your pet gets anxious about fireworks, now’s the time to call us! We’re happy to chat about ways to help keep your furry friend safe and calm during the summer booms and bangs. 🎆

🌟 Meet Bosley! 🌟
This squishy boy came in for his very first visit recently, and we immediately fell head-over-paws in love. 🥹 At just 3 months old, Bosley the German Shepherd mix had already mastered the head tilt, the sit pose, and the ability to melt hearts with just one look.

Weighing in at a perfect 18.6 lbs of floofy charm, Bosley absolutely stole the spotlight (and let’s be honest—our attention spans) during his visit with Dr. Nelson. The rainbow, the sparkle, the vibe… it was all very Bosley. 🌈✨

We’re so excited to watch this little guy grow up and thrive! 🐾💛

🐾 Meet Jones! 🐾
This curious cutie came in for his very first visit and completely stole our hearts 💚 At just 3 months old, Jones already knows how to strike a pose—and clearly has great taste in chalkboard aesthetics 🐈‍⬛✨

Big thanks to Dr. Howes for giving Jones a gentle, Fear Free-approved welcome to the EPHC family! We can’t wait to watch this little explorer grow up! 💕

🧡 A few weeks ago, we were blessed with a full-on PUPPYPILE—and we’re still recovering from the cuteness.

These sweet little nuggets were in for their check-ups and quickly turned the corner of the room into a cozy cinnamon roll of chaos and cuddles. 🐾💤

Naturally, Jaimie found herself in the center of the action—and let’s just say, we didn’t hear a single complaint. 😉

Puppy visits are always a highlight, but this crew? Unforgettable. 💛

🌈 June Pets of the Month: Ely & Emmy! 🐾

This unforgettable pair of pups belongs to one of our wonderful clients, and they’re truly one-of-a-kind. Meet Ely (turning 11 this June) and Emmy (age 6), two lovable, chaotic, and fiercely loyal rescue dogs who have brought endless joy—and a few emergency calls—to their human’s life.

✨ Let’s start with their names:
Ely (pronounced “E-Lee”) is named after Ely, Minnesota—a sweet reminder of home after her human moved to Kansas City. The name was often mispronounced, even at the vet, where it was phonetically entered as “E-Lee.” Emmy came along during the pandemic and was originally named Mila. To avoid another pronunciation struggle, her name was changed (inspired by a Chip & Joanna Gaines binge-watch). Now Ely and Emmy make the perfect “E”-squad.

✨ Breed breakdown:
Ely is a mix of American Staffordshire Terrier, Manchester Terrier, and a hint of herding dog. Emmy is a magical 15-breed blend featuring Australian Cattle Dog, Lab, Boston Terrier, Pit Bull, German Shepherd, and more!

✨ Personality in action:
Ely’s basically part-cat. She naps in the sun, her iPhone recognizes her as a feline, and she’s a Grade A burrower. She even “talks” on command and can match pitch—howling back until she almost says “mom.”

Emmy is sweet and awkward. She survived a hard start to life, including pregnancy, a BB gun injury (she has over 50 pellets still in her body), and a broken back foot that healed improperly. Despite it all, she is loving, gentle, and a pro-level zoomie spinner—her signature move is getting spun like a top mid-run.

✨ The naughty list:
Emmy once ate 28 packets of FortiFlora, then barfed them up whole in a single bratwurst-shaped surprise. Ely once chased ducks so far into a lake that her mom had to strip down to her sports bra and dive in. What followed was a chaotic rescue involving murky water, a paddleboard stranger, dead fish, a very determined dog, and eight police cars. Ely was saved, the ducks survived, and the only casualty was human dignity.

✨ Nicknames & love:
Ely Marie goes by Bear, Scooby, Turkey, and Yoda. Emmy Jo (Josephine when she’s in trouble) is also known as Doodlebug and Jo. Ely has recovered from two ACL tears without surgery and recently had a vulvoplasty—now lovingly referred to as the Taco Tune-Up or the Meat Flap Mender (we can’t make this stuff up).

Every night before laundry day, they get to sleep in bed with their human. Ely patiently waits at the pillow, staring until the covers are lifted so she can burrow at the foot of the bed. Emmy dozes off with her tiny underbite and tongue peeking out.

These girls are resilient, hilarious, and endlessly loyal. They’ve been through so much—and they continue to love, heal, and light up every room they enter. We are beyond honored to feature Ely & Emmy as our June Pets of the Month! 💖

💙 It is with great pleasure that we welcome Dr. Will Howes to EPHC!!

Dr. Will was born in Canada but spent most of his youth in Marblehead Massachusetts. He got his undergraduate degree from Northeastern University and developed a strong interest in research. He was accepted into a PhD program in molecular and cellular biology at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. From here, his career interests expanded into veterinary medicine and he went on to complete his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Minnesota. He loved Minnesota so much he decided to make it his permanent home!

Dr. Will comes to us with 12 years of veterinary experience in the Twin Cities. He enjoys surgery and dentistry, but nothing seems to make him happier than his day-to-day interactions with pets and their owners!

We are just so thrilled to have him on our team! Please be sure to give him a warm welcome next time you stop by! 🐾💙

💚This goofball George, featured in his Cone of Shame, felt the utmost need to chase a rabbit after a recent foot surgery. So he had to come back in to have his bandage reapplied. But he got to leave in style with Melanie’s super cool bandage art which looks just like him today!! 🐇🐾🐶💚
