thought this would be me if I ever gave up coffee. I used to say, “You can take my coffee when you pry it from my cold, dead hands.” ☕️💀

Can you relate?

Once I realized how important it was for me to make deep lifestyle, mindset, and dietary changes in order to heal, I had to accept that it was time to end my decades long love affair with black coffee.

Looking back, I have to laugh at all my justifications for my morning addiction and the stories I told myself of why it was ok, and how hard it would be to give it up.

Trust me, I never saw myself as the type to drink hot herbal tea 🍵 in the morning. I’ve been a coffee man since my Coast Guard days. But… here we are! And I can say, it’s been a VERY good thing.

Not saying you need to quit too - I’m not that guy. Just saying, it’s worth examining your coffee/caffeine attachments to see if they are genuinely serving you when it comes to healing and being at your best.

Had an amazing time and left feeling energized, grounded, and totally distressed.

While the crowds this time of year can be annoying, it’s actually really great to see so many people getting out in nature. I always hope more people will make it a regular part of their lifestyle and not just a one-off thing.

Over the years I’ve had countless people tell me “Yoga is boring” and “not much of a workout”. Guess we are practicing a different kind of Yoga🤔.

Along with sweating buckets today, I was anything but bored, my heart rate was in the 140’s to 160’s for over 20 minute.🤯

Today was Day 23 of a 108 day Power Yoga Journey that I’ve committed to (an inner commitment).

I’m coupling it with an emphasis on organic superfoods and it’s already been an incredible experience. Challenging… but incredible!

Sept 4th, I'm "coming out of retirement" from teaching live Power Yoga for an event that is near and dear to my heart AND I hope you can join me!

I haven't taught a true Power Yoga class since the great shut down of 2020 but I think it’s high time to bring it back.

Next month marks the 17 year anniversary of when I hosted the first ever "Urban Adventure".

If you're not familiar, my Urban Adventures consisted of some sort of "off the mat" activity like a hike, run, bike ride, CrossFit or MovNat inspired workout, etc, followed by my signature style of Power Yoga.

It's been too long since we've all gathered for an adventure and practiced live and in person. I've missed it and I've missed seeing our Tribe in person.

“I” don’t love waking at 4:15. And “I” don’t love getting on my Yoga mat at 5:00.

“I” want to stay in bed or sip coffee and ease into my day. THEN do the Yoga when “I” want to… when it feels right or convenient.

But that’s not Yoga, now is it?

Yoga and the Path to Awakening is about surrendering the capitol “I” (ego), our wants, and desires, in exchange for the discipline that Yoga requires IF you’re sincere in your intentions.

Sometimes that means getting on the mat at a time “I” don’t prefer, otherwise, once the rest of my life wakes up, it likely won’t happen.

Here’s a post that’s outside my usual stuff.

I’ve collected tattoos for 30 years now. Almost as long as I’ve been a coach!

I’ve been tattooed in 3 different states by about a dozen different artists… though I’d use that word loosely when describing a couple people who’ve tattooed me.

Each tat tells a story that means something to me. That’s one of the things I appreciate most about getting inked.

On to the point of my post…

My Homie is celebrating 25 years as a tattoo artist. He’s responsible for all the black and grey on my right arm and is one of the best in the industry. He’s also an all around awesome dude.

I wanted to show him a little love by entering his contest.

While winning some free tattoos would be sweet, that’s not why I entered.

Weapons of Mass Construction.💪🏼 Cheesy, I know.

FINALLY a weekend camping. I always bring my Rucker 3.0. Occasionally I bring along a sandbag or two.

There is beauty in the simplicity when it comes to what a ruck and a sandbag can do for your body, mind, and spirit.

With these two simple pieces of gear, the possibilities are unlimited.

They travel better than weights, barbells, dumbbells, or kettlebells. And, they are tons more fun!

Post Breast Cancer Progress: I can’t express how gratifying it is to see results like this.

It’s gratifying because I know what I’m seeing represents an inner transformation my client has gone through over the past 3 months and it’s exciting because I know we have just scratched the surface.

After going through treatment for breast cancer, a double mastectomy, reconstructive surgery, and physical therapy, she was left with tons of restrictions, limitations, scars, and pain.

Plus she was needing to form healthy relationship with her “new” body.

That’s a steep mountain to climb.

When we started she was unable to extend her arms to the side or overhead without tons of compensations and pain.

3 months later she’s reclaimed a massive amount of motion with far less pain

Now she’s back to playing golf (which she loves), can do 9 holes with more energy and stamina AND just yesterday took 10 strokes off her game🤯🙌🏼🔥.

I think it’s important to share her journey because I KNOW her story can inspire others and give them hope.

Where doctors and therapists stop, I’m just getting started.

I want to give tons of credit to my friends at for their mentorship and inspiration.

The difference. This “before and after” was taken this morning after only 30 minutes of fascial maneuvers.

We were able to see a dramatic improvement in the torquing of her rib cage and pelvis and the early signs of the realignment that is to come.

This image offered the most dramatic illustration (to the untrained eye😉), yet there was a noticeable improvement overall in her posture and movement.

Lots of work to do, but this was a big breakthrough on the road to living pain free!!🙌🏼

I haven’t been posting on social media the last couple of months.

For a of couple reasons. The biggest being that I’ve taken a deeeeep dive with the trailblazers at the Human Garage - discovering more about the role fascia plays in our body, mind, and spirit.

I’ve spent these weeks addressing some of my own dysfunction and, as a result, experienced all sorts of physical transformations.

More importantly, I’ve dug into the emotional roots and trauma that created the dysfunction in the first place - and learning how to let them go.

While I’ve done tons of corrective exercises, mobility work and “myofascial release” the last 12 years, what I’m learning has a been a massive paradigm shift that it’s left me questioning the modalities I’ve been using and the direction I’m going with this newfound wisdom.

I look forward to sharing more about my own journey and those of my clients as well.

Photographic evidence of my Yoga Squat circa 1970🤣.

While it’s still a daily practice, I’d sure like to have that ankle mobility back!!

The deep squat is a foundational position for human development and movement. It’s natural and normal to the human species!

It’s also a “resting” position that many modern humans, aka “Zoo Humans” have lost.

Sadly, many kids start to lose this position as early as grade school because they start sitting in chairs for hours a day and spend less time sitting and playing on the ground.

Have you lost the capacity to squat like this? Can you Yoga Squat and feel like you’re resting?

If not, make reclaiming this position a priority.

It does wonders for your feet, ankles, knees, hips, and lower back. It will have a direct impact on how you move and feel.

It’s also great for the health of your internal organs, digestion elimination💩, and much more!!

Initially, work on accumulating 10 minutes a day, eventually working up to 30 minutes a day!

A few seconds here and a minute there - it all adds up by the end of the day and it may just shock you how beneficial it really is!
