The Pedal Yoga brand was created by our founder soon after she completed her training to be a yoga instructor. She was living with her now husband in downtown Denver and their favorite part of city living was the ability to bike every where. She offered "Yoga-mosas" in the park on sunny Saturdays every summer. The classes invited guests to postpone brunch and warm up with her first.
Pedal Yoga has always been focused on bringing people peace and grounding through movement. The brand has transformed since it's start in the parks of Denver. The mobility of the business primarily focuses on bringing yoga to local businesses, senior citizens, and into the home.
About the Founder
The first place I ever did yoga was a gym in my hometown. I was in high school and was learning the ways of the treadmill and the ropes of joining a gym. I had always been interested in yoga and for my birthday that year my aunt bought me my first mat and a book of poses. That first class I admired as the teacher did all these crazy positions and headstands and I could barely tell right from left. I am a high energy individual so spending an hour focusing on my breath was right up my alley.
Yoga memberships are not a cheap thing and as a college student and then a bartender with school loans it has been tough to find the spare change to join a studio. After mainly a self-taught home practice for years I made the decision to get my teacher training certification in January of 2015. The training wasn’t what I expected but yoga is a journey and that was starting the path at the trailhead. I spent the next year practicing yoga and teaching friends but searching for the spark and drive that got me there in the first place.
My journey with yoga has taught me that wherever you are is where you are supposed to be and only you are holding yourself back from your dreams and the unbelievable potential you hold inside. The beautiful thing about yoga is that there is always room to grow, there will always be another pose to challenge you. Physically I suffer from lower back pain and hold all my stress in my neck and shoulders. Yoga stretches out the spine and finds balance within the vertebrates by moving, twisting and breathing. I believe that with a regular practice of yoga just about any ailment can be cured.
My favorite pose is Danser Pose. Some days I can get right into it and other days I need to focus more on the balance and quieting the mind necessary for the pose.
