Today’s White House event on autism was filled with dangerous claims and misleading information that sends a confusing message to parents and expecting parents and does a disservice to autistic individuals.

We know autism is complex, highly variable and increasingly linked to genetics. Individualized plans, often involving a combination of developmental, behavioral, educational and social-relational strategies, can help improve outcomes that are meaningful to individuals and families. We also need and welcome additional investments in federally funded research to better support families of autistic children.

Families who have questions about their child’s medications, autism care plans or other health care should consult with their pediatrician or health care provider.

There are currently no confirmed cases of measles in Johnson County, Kansas. However, it’s good to be aware of the symptoms of measles. If you think you may have measles, call your healthcare provider BEFORE going to their office. Measles is highly contagious and your provider will make arrangements for you to be seen and tested.

All healthcare providers and hospitals are required to report suspected and confirmed measles cases directly to the Kansas Department of Health and Environment within 4 hours, which then notifies our office. Providers should NOT wait for test results to report a suspected case.

Excellent article about how Measles infects and attacks an unvaccinated person.
Please be sure you are fully vaccinated.

With falling vaccination rates and outbreaks that have caused more than 580 U.S. cases and at least one death, health experts expect hundreds or even thousands more to be infected in the coming months.
