Here is a great article to describe how play therapy works and how it works so wonderful for kids! https://www.counseling.org/publications/counseling-today-magazine/article-archive/article/legacy/involving-parents-in-child-centered-play-therapy

When young children, ages 2 to 9, are experiencing emotional and behavioral problems, the usefulness of talk therapy is limited because they often cannot communicate effectively using words.

Our teens are struggling with mental health! As much awareness as there is out there nowadays, still there is a stigma around su***de - and especially with our kids and teens, many of whom are afraid to speak out about their struggle. In Cecil County, this is a fantastic resource: The Live For Thomas Foundation & Den22 in North East, MD - a safe space for teens 14-24 to decompress, receive mental health/peer support, and crisis intervention! Make sure you know about these agencies and the programs they offer!

In certain abusive spaces, celebrating individuality is distorted into selfishness, and the person becomes a scapegoat that bears the blame for others’ insecurities. Abusers often react to a person’s growth by labeling it as greed or selfishness, especially when that success challenges the control they seek to maintain over others. The journey to reclaiming your true self starts with recognizing these dynamics and refusing to internalize the blame.

This morning's journal prompt invites you to think about the people God has placed in your life. How can you reach out to them for support? And how can you be a source of support for others?

Remember, we grow stronger in faith. ✨

The singular mark of patience is not endurance or fortitude but hope. To be inpatient…is to live without hope. Patience is grounded in the Resurrection. It is life oriented toward a future that is God’s doing, and its sign is longing, not so much to be released from the ills of the present, but in anticipation of the good to come. -Robert Wilken

Please welcome our newest therapist, Jennifer Miller - MAPC! 🎉

"My ideal client is one that has experienced trauma or crisis in their life, usually with their family of origin, struggles in relationships, has experienced anxiety, abandonment, or emotional, verbal, or spiritual abuse. Many times clients say to me they feel like they were not made to fit in this world or no one understands them.

The space I like to create with clients is one of warmth, compassion, empathy, and one of non-judgment. It's important that I am able to connect with clients so they feel trust and safety while working together. I have a very flexible schedule and offer daytime, afternoon, evening, and weekend appointments.

I tailor my approach to meet my clients right where they are and use the methods that make most sense to them. I have been a patient of therapy for many years myself, being a complex trauma and cancer survivor. I believe my own experience helps me to connect with clients and provide empathy and support through the healing journey."

These just arrived and I can’t wait to try them with a client!
