With deep sorrow we announce the passing of Michael R. VanEtten Sr., a cherished husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother and friend, who left us on July 1, 2025. Born on May 25, 1954, in Schuylerville, NY, to the late Franklin and Eleanor Brooklyn VanEtten, he was 71.

Michael was an avid Buffalo Bills fan, his enthusiasm for the team was infectious. He loved to fish at any opportunity, finding peace, and tranquility amidst the water. When not pursuing his passion for angling, he enjoyed the thrill and excitement of watching NASCAR. Michael was also a great cook, particularly fond of grilling venison, hamburgers, and hot dogs. His love for a simple yet fulfilling lifestyle reflected in his hobbies and interests. As Julia Child once said, "People who love to eat are always the best people."

Michael leaves behind his beloved wife, Carole VanEtten, daughters; Nicole & Crystal VanEtten, son, Michael VanEtten Jr., step-son, Travis Pettit, step-daughter, Amanda Pettit, six grandchildren, and seven brothers & sisters. His absence will be deeply felt by all who knew him. Michael's life was full of joy, love, and warmth, which he generously shared with all those around him. As Marcus Aurelius said, "What we do now echoes in eternity."

We invite everyone who knew Michael to share their memories, stories, and photos on his memorial page. His legacy will continue to live on through our shared memories.

2. Turn a favorite shirt into a pillow, or a pile of favorite clothing into a quilt.
3. Make a scrapbook featuring favorite memories.
4. Decide on a number of things allowed to keep, and part with the rest.
5. Invite family and friends over for a storytelling party.
6. Start a new tradition in their honor.
7. Repurpose or remake jewelry into pieces to wear or pass around.

Flowers and other mementos can be expensive, especially for something that won't stay on the grave indefinitely. Placing a coin on the grave allows you to leave a token of respect for your loved one that isn't expensive. Additionally, many countries reserve this tribute for veterans.

Many mourners leave pebbles, stones, and other small rocks on graves, with many believing they keep souls from leaving the burial site before receiving their final judgment. For others, leaving a small pebble or stone on top of the gravestone is just a sign of respect and lets family members know someone visited during their absence.

The head panel is the part of the casket that opens above the deceased, and is commonly on display during funerals, wakes, and viewings. Some choose to personalize the panel with an emblem or even a detailed picture that represents the loved one, and these are typically embroidered on. If you want to know more about what's possible, don't hesitate to give us a call at 518-695-3138.

We are saddened to announce the passing of Patricia Ramsey-Gannon on June 25, 2025. Patricia was born on June 10, 1941, in Schenectady, NY, to the late Robert and June Epting, she was 84.

A proud homemaker and the heart of her family, Patricia's love for her family knew no boundaries. She was the embodiment of Maya Angelou's quote, “I sustain myself with the love of family.” Every moment spent with them was a celebration of life and love. In her solitude, Patricia often lost herself in the pages of western novels, living vicariously through the rugged landscapes and cowboy heroes akin to John Wayne. An ardent fan of Elvis and Johnny Cash, their music was the soundtrack to her life, filling her home with melodies that echoed her own spirit – strong, resilient, and timeless. Her fondness for wordsearch and crossword puzzles testified to her sharp mind and her knack for solving life's little riddles.

Patricia's appreciation for the simple joys of life was also evident in her love for nature. She found immense pleasure in bird watching, the sight of cardinals bringing a twinkle to her eye and a smile to her face. Just as Emily Dickinson once wrote, “Hope is the thing with feathers that perches in the soul,” Patricia's spirit was a beacon of hope, illuminating the lives of those around her with her warmth, kindness, and love.

Patricia was preceded in death by her parents, Robert & June Epting, and her son, Albert F. Ramsey Jr. She is survived by her 8 children; Lillian Brown, Patricia Bush, Ruth Palmer, Mildred Dickinson, Benda Stephens, Robert Ramsey, Raymond Gannon, Arthur Gannon, numerous Grandchildren, Great-Grandchildren, Great-Great- Grandchildren, Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and Friends.

A celebration of life will be held at the American Legion, Clancy St., Schuylerville, on Saturday July, 5 from 1-3pm.

Memorials can be made in her memory to the Alzheimer's Association Northeastern New York Chapter, https://www.alz.org/northeasternny

She leaves behind a rich tapestry of memories for her family and friends to cherish. As we grieve the loss of this remarkable woman, we invite you to share your fond memories and tributes on Patricia's memorial page. Your stories, photos, and messages of love are a testament to the life she led and the lives she touched. Her legacy of love and nurturing will continue in the hearts of those who knew her.

You will certainly be thinking of your loved on during holidays and special occasions, so there is no reason to keep that inside if you want to find a more open way to involve your loved one in the event. This is especially true if you lost someone recently and their memory is especially vivid.
