🦷😬Over the counter oral appliances are often "one-size-fits-all" designs or boil and bite. This means that they can not accommodate the unique anatomy of each individuals mouth and jaw, leading to poor fit and discomfort, thus limiting the effectiveness in treating sleep apnea compared to custom titrated devices fitted by a dentist. Another major issue with over the counter devices is they lack adjustability, which is crucial for optimal positioning of the jaw to properly open the airway.
❌️POOR FIT . Unlike custom-made devices, over the counter devices can NOT be molded to the precise contours of your mandibular anatomy, resulting in potential long-term effects. An ill-fitting device can put uneven pressure on your teeth and jaw joints, leading to jaw pain.
❗️LIMITED ADJUSTABILITY. It is crucial that your device has the ability to be adjusted to fine-tuned the jaw position.
🚫 NO DENTAL EVALUATION. Without a dental consultation, you may be opening up yourself to potential harmful effects, including temporomandibular joint disorder ,improper hygene, and ineffective treatment to your sleep apnea.

✅️ If you are considering Oral Appliance Therapy to treat your obstructive sleep apnea , call us today to schedule an appointment with our board certified sleep dentist to get a custom-made device tailored to your specific needs.

Planning a vacation or getaway?
📍 oral appliance's come with their own travel cases . They're lightweight and do not require any additional replacement parts, batteries, or motors.
📍Because oral appliances do not have any electrical parts, it makes it a perfect treatment if you need a nap while traveling or you're staying in an area without electricity!! You also don't need to fuss with any hoses, masks, filters, or water tanks.
📍 Traveling is easy with an oral appliance. They are small enough to fit in your pocket. There is no need to make additional room in your bag or check any additional luggage.
📍Oral appliances are easy to wear anywhere! OAT prevents snoring, so feel confident and sleep well while napping on a plane or as a passenger on a road trip!
📍 NO FORCED AIR! Sometimes, traveling to a new place with greater or less moisture in the air can disrupt your nasal passages. Forced air from a cpap can dry out nasal passages, setting them up to develop infections or to get sores in the nose or throat. Cpap's effectiveness will be compromised if you're all stuffed up.
