The Maya Angelou Center for Health Equity at Wake Forest University School of Medicine is honored to be a part of the documentary 'We Are, Because We Were' which is being shown at the International Black Theatre Festivals Film Fest. Curated by Hilda Willis and directed by Wake Forest University documentary film program alumnus Rodney Wilds the documentary celebrates the extraordinary history of Winston-Salem's African American community. Dr. Allison Caban-Holt, Associate Director of MACHE is featured in the documentary.
