Our Program Uses a Holistic Approach, Addressing Mind, Body and Spirit.

Our mission is to provide an environment that is loving, nurturing, safe and conducive to recovery
Certified recovery residence through the Alabama Alliance of Recovery Residences under NARR guidelines. No other program in this area will offer the scope of transitional services A New Beginning can offer.

• In house counselors to provide women with
group and individual counseling

• 12

Step Meetings

• Around the clock certified addictions counselor

• In house chapel to establish a relationship
with a Higher Power

• GED education

• 16 week Certified Parenting Classes

• A partnership with local colleges to acquire post
secondary education

• Job skills training needed to enter the work force
• Family groups and support

• Fitness facility

Future Plans:

• Rehabilitation of other disorders (IE: Eating Disorders,
Co-Occurring, etc.)

• Women and Children’s Program

What a sacred gift it has been to be able to serve this community for the past 30 years it is bittersweet to say we’ve closed the doors
Thank you for allowing me to create a safe place where women could come to heal, recover and begin again.
So many lives have been touched and I know without a doubt that God’s grace has been present every step of this journey.
This mission was never done alone it was carried by the prayers, love, support and faithfulness of so many people who believed in the importance of offering hope and healing to women in need. Together we built more than a place-we helped create a refuge.
As I prepare to begin a new chapter of my life
I’m filled with gratitude for the women who helped along the way.
May they continue spread the seeds of love.
My prayer is that this community continues to be blessed with healing, growth, compassion, and strength for many years to come.
I will carry this chapter of my life, and all of you, with me always.

Kat successfully completed the program today! 🌟 We’ve watched her grow so much during her time here, and we are incredibly proud of the progress she’s made. We can’t wait to see all the ways she continues to shine on her recovery journey. 💙

Today we celebrate a truly incredible milestone—20 years of sobriety for our founder, Lucie Bowen. Twenty years of strength. Twenty years of faith. Twenty years of choosing recovery every single day.

Because of Lucie’s journey, A New Beginning exists to help women find hope, healing, and a path forward. Her courage has changed countless lives, and we are so grateful for the love and leadership she pours into this mission.

Recovery is deeply connected to Dr. King’s vision — the courage to grow, the commitment to do better, and the belief that people and communities can be transformed. Recovery is about choosing love over despair, service over self, and hope over fear, one day at a time.
