January is National Radon Action Month ☢️🏠
Radon is a colorless, odorless and tasteless gas that can build up to hazardous levels in homes. It is the second leading cause of cancer in the U.S. and can enter homes through rock, soil and groundwater.
The only way to know if your home has radon is by testing, and everyone should test their home every two to five years. Thankfully, testing is easy and inexpensive.
Radon test kits are available at most home improvement stores, and Wyoming residents can request a free test kit from the Wyoming Department of Health at https://health.wyo.gov/publichealth/cancer-and-chronic-disease-prevention-unit/cancer/radon/.
Stay safe and take action today to help lower your risk from radon!
Mission: To reduce the burden of cancer through evidence-based screening and prevention strategies, including education, support, collaboration, and resource sharing in Wyoming.
