The heat and humidity are back! ☀️🕶️
Water plays many roles in the body, from lubricating joints and processing nutrients to regulating body temperature. Dehydration doesn't really sneak up on you though.

1. Drink more water, especially when you feel thirsty. 11-15 cups a day should be the goal.
2. If your mouth feels dry, you are probably in need of water.
3. Add electrolytes! Plain water might not be enough.
4. Drink a full glass of water as soon as you wake up.
5. Eat water-filled fruits like watermelon, celery, strawberries, cantaloupe, and oranges.

💧👂 Swimmer’s ear is an infection in the external ear canal, the tube leading from the ear opening to the eardrum. Moisture gets trapped in the canal which leads to a break in the skin barrier and creates an opening for certain bacteria to enter, or existing ones to overgrow. It doesn't have to occur when swimming.

The main symptom of swimmer’s ear is severe pain and discomfort. It’s particularly noticeable when the outer ear is tugged, or by touching the tragus (the small bump at the front of your ear). Other symptoms include itchiness inside the ear, redness, swelling and drainage. A feeling of fullness, or the perception of a plugged ear, may also occur, along with disturbed balance and temporary hearing loss.

Our ear, nose and throat experts can help!
