Empower is a non-profit support group led by Shawn McKearin and Josh Watkins — both above-the-knee amputees who understand firsthand the journey of limb loss. Their meetings are a welcoming space to share stories, ask questions, gain support, and connect with others who truly understand.

This month’s meeting will be a laid-back summer get-together in the park, perfect for bringing family and friends. If you or someone you care about is navigating limb loss, this is a wonderful chance to build community and find encouragement.

⭐ 𝗜𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂’𝘃𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗳𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗼𝘄𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗔𝗻𝗱𝘆 𝗘𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗱𝗴𝗲’𝘀 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗷𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗲𝘆, 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗮 𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝗺𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘄𝗮𝘀: on Friday, June 20th, Andy stood tall for the first time in over two months, wearing his brand-new custom prostheses from Infinity Orthotics, Prosthetics & Rehab Science. 🦿🦿

Andy, a husband, father, friend, and beloved member of our community, survived a devastating accident in April and underwent bilateral below-knee amputations. Since then, he’s faced recovery with unwavering faith and fierce determination. His progress has been nothing short of extraordinary, and on Friday, we were honored to witness his next milestone.

📸 Pictured here, Andy takes his first steps since the accident, sharing an emotional moment with his wife Amanda, who said: “It’s the first time I’ve kissed him standing up in over two months.”

Also pictured are Infinity team members Reese Lambert, LCPO, and Josh Watkins, Patient Liaison, both of whom will continue walking alongside Andy on this journey.
