Sayer Counseling Services Convenient, compassionate and professional counseling services I know what it's like to struggle with anxiety and depression.

For years, I searched and strained for relief, just surviving each day instead of truly living. Out of that pain, I have learned much and I believe through my experience and my education I offer hope to my clients. I am a follower of Jesus and the Bible deeply impacts my counseling. But I will not ever push my beliefs on you and I am happy to work with you whatever your beliefs may be. I have expe

rienced the most relief from anxiety and depression using cognitive behavioral techniques as well as mindfulness. I am a strong believer in using nutrition and fitness to improve mental health. Our bodies and our minds are intricately connected.

Mindfulness isn’t just a buzzword — it’s a tool that can help you regulate your nervous system, reduce stress, and stay more present throughout your day.
Here’s how mindfulness helps:
Supports emotional regulation: Mindfulness teaches your brain how to manage emotional responses and stay grounded.

Reduces stress reactivity: It helps you respond with calm instead of reacting impulsively in stressful situations.

Improves attention and awareness: Strengthening your ability to notice your thoughts, feelings, and bodily sensations can give you more control over your responses.

Mindfulness practices are not about being perfect. They’re about showing up for yourself and giving your brain the space to process, heal, and reset. ✨

Life can feel overwhelming, and sometimes we’re left feeling disconnected or out of touch with our own bodies. Grounding practices help us reconnect, feel more present, and restore a sense of safety.
Here are some simple ways to feel more grounded:
Breath awareness: Slow, steady breathing can help regulate your nervous system.

Sensory connection: Using touch or noticing temperature can bring your focus back to the present moment.

Time in nature: Stepping outside and connecting with the environment supports your nervous system.

Body awareness: Noticing how your body feels helps you stay connected to yourself.

Reducing digital overload: Limiting constant stimulation can provide relief to your nervous system.

Moments of appreciation: Anchoring your attention in the present can help you appreciate what’s around you.

By taking small moments throughout the day, you can shift your energy and find grounding in even the busiest moments. 🌿

We often grow up learning certain beliefs, habits, and patterns — but as we get older, we realize that some of those ideas no longer serve us. In therapy, we get the opportunity to unlearn, reconnect, and give ourselves more grace.
Here are a few things many people relearn over time:
Rest isn’t unproductive. It’s necessary.
Your worth isn’t tied to how busy you are.

Not responding right away doesn’t make you uncaring.
Connection can exist alongside space.

It’s okay to change your mind.
Growth means allowing yourself to evolve.

Being a work in progress doesn’t reduce worth.
You don’t have to “arrive” to be enough.

Clarity takes time.
Confusion isn’t failure — it’s part of the process.

Healing isn’t linear, and that’s okay. It’s all about finding new ways to support yourself and move forward at your own pace. 🌿

Sometimes we feel overwhelmed not because we’re doing too little, but because we’re constantly squeezing ourselves into a space that doesn’t allow for rest or recovery.
It’s okay to make space in your day. To protect moments of quiet, say no when you need to, and schedule rest as intentionally as tasks. Giving yourself that space is one of the most important things you can do for your nervous system.
Start with a gentler framework for your time:
Clarify what truly matters

Protect your energy from things that drain you

Use your calendar for balance, not just productivity

You don’t need perfect routines. You need space to breathe and recover. If this feels familiar, we’re here to help you rebuild balance at a pace that feels right for you.
Join our Healing Anxiety Group in February 2026 for a supportive space to heal and grow. 💙

It’s easy to feel like you’re falling behind when you compare your progress to others. But remember, your journey is unique to you.
Healing, growth, and change don’t happen on anyone else’s timeline. It’s okay to move at your own pace and take the time you need to nurture yourself. Trust that you are exactly where you need to be right now.
You’re not behind. You’re exactly where you need to be. 🌿

Your mind, your body, and your spirit are your homes.
They deserve your attention, care, and respect.
Your mind: Nurture it by allowing time for rest and growth.

Your body: Listen to it, care for it, and support it with self-compassion.

Your spirit: Protect it with moments of stillness and connection.

When you give these homes the care they deserve, they’ll help you feel more grounded, more capable, and more whole. 💙

Mornings set the tone for the day ahead, and they don’t need to be rushed or chaotic. The key is building small, intentional habits that help your nervous system feel grounded, no matter what your day holds.
Here are a few habits you can try:
Start the day with quiet time.
Creating undistracted space can help reduce mental noise and set a grounded tone. Even a few minutes of journaling or setting your intentions can provide clarity.

Move your body gently.
Whether it’s stretching, walking, or light movement, getting your body moving helps release tension and signals safety to your nervous system.

Feed your mind intentionally.
Start the day by listening to something calming or empowering, like a podcast or audiobook. It helps shift your mindset before the day gets busy. 🌿

Anxiety isn’t always obvious. Sometimes it doesn’t show up as a panic attack or a breakdown. It shows up in your thoughts, in your body, and in your constant sense of overwhelm. It looks like just getting through the day.
But you don’t have to face it alone.
If anxiety has been quietly controlling your days, it might be time for something different.
The Healing Anxiety Group was designed to help you understand what anxiety is doing in your mind and body, not just how to push through it. We’re here to build awareness, regulation, and a kinder relationship with yourself, all in a supportive group setting.
Join us this February 2026 for a space to heal and grow — together. 🤍

We all experience our emotions in different ways, and sometimes they can feel overwhelming or hard to navigate. But understanding where you are emotionally can help you find a way through.
When we’re in high energy, our emotions can feel amplified. Anxiety, restlessness, and overthinking can take over, leaving us feeling overwhelmed.
But when we move into regulated engagement, we can start to feel present and emotionally steady — able to respond instead of react.
On the other hand, emotional shutdown can leave us feeling disconnected, exhausted, and hopeless. This is when we need to give ourselves permission to rest and recover — to slow down and restore our energy.
Your emotional state isn’t fixed. It’s a flow. Learning to recognize where you are and how to regulate your energy can help you feel more grounded and in control.
If any of this resonates with you, it's okay to take the next step and explore support. You don’t have to navigate these cycles alone. 🌿

These thoughts often show up automatically, especially when your nervous system feels under pressure. But a thought isn’t a fact. It’s a perspective, and perspectives can shift.
When we gently question these inner messages and offer ourselves a different way of seeing things, something softens. The body gets a little more room to breathe. The mind doesn’t have to work as hard to protect.
Perspective doesn’t erase challenges, but it can change how heavy they feel. And sometimes, that small shift is enough to create space for more compassion and calm. 🌿

Anxiety often feels confusing and frustrating because it seems to come out of nowhere. In reality, it usually follows a predictable pattern.

A trigger shows up, sometimes a situation, sometimes a thought or body sensation. The nervous system reacts quickly, shifting into fight mode to protect you. From there, anxious thoughts try to make sense of what’s happening, often interpreting sensations as dangerous or unmanageable.

To get relief, the mind and body turn to protective behaviors like avoiding, overthinking, or seeking reassurance. These actions help in the short term, but the relief doesn’t last. Over time, the cycle strengthens, and anxiety becomes more sensitive to future triggers.

Understanding this cycle is important because awareness creates choice. When you can recognize what’s happening in real time, it becomes possible to respond differently, with more support, regulation, and care for your nervous system. 🤍
