Estate planning is the process of organizing how your assets will be managed and distributed after your lifetime, ensuring your loved ones and the causes you care about are provided for. 🏡💙

October 20–26 is National Estate Planning Awareness Week, a week created to bring awareness to how planning ahead supports long-term financial wellness and peace of mind.

Many nonprofits, including The Village Family Service Center, are deeply grateful to those who include us in their estate plans. These gifts allow us to continue enhancing the lives of the people we serve for generations to come. 🌿 Stay tuned this week to learn more about how estate planning can make a lasting impact!

Do you ever notice your mood shift as the days get shorter and the season gets colder? You may, like around 5% of the U.S. population have Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD), more commonly known as seasonal depression.

The good news is, there are ways to cope. Try getting outside when you can, moving your body, keeping a steady sleep schedule, reaching out to friends, or talking with your doctor about options like light therapy or vitamin D.

If you find yourself struggling with your mental health, you don’t have to go it alone. Call us at 1-800-627-8220 to get started with one of our clinicians. ☀️🍂⛄

🌍 Today is World Mental Health Day!

raises awareness about mental health and reinforces the importance of access to care, especially in emergencies. This year’s theme, “Mental health care for all: a greater investment, stronger protection,” highlights the need for mental health support during crises like natural disasters, conflict, and public health emergencies.

Approximately one in five people experience a mental health condition, which is why it is so important to invest in community mental health services.

Just like physical health checkups, depression and other mental health screenings are an important part of healthcare. Clinical depression affects millions each year, yet some may dismiss the symptoms as “just life” and may not seek help.

If these symptoms interfere with your daily life, reach out to a doctor or mental health professional. You don’t have to face it alone.

Additionally, if you or someone you know is in crisis, the 988 mental health line is always available for immediate support. 📞

Life comes with uncertainties that can feel overwhelming at times. Wanting control is a natural response to stress, but sometimes the need for control only adds to the weight. Instead, focus on what you CAN control: your actions, your coping skills (breathing, journaling, seeking help), and who you are at your core.

Some circumstances can’t be changed, but we can learn to exist alongside them. And in those moments, community, whether it’s friends, family, or neighbors, can make these challenges feel lighter. 🌱📖
