Arc for the River Valley The Arc offers a wide variety of exciting and stimulating activities for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

There are more than 4.6 million Americans who live with an intellectual or developmental disability (I/DD). At the local level, in Sebastian and Crawford counties alone, 25% of children/adults are living with a "cognitive disability" that impacts their lives. These individuals need services and support to become valued, contributing members of their communities. The Arc for the River Valley focuse

s on providing recreational activities as well as advocacy and educational support for individuals with I/DD and their caregivers. The Arc serves a membership of over 460 members. With your past support we were able to continue to keep our member dues low, to keep our activities and events free, and to provide free snacks and drinks to members. To continue our current services as well as add new ones, we need your continued support. Due to the economic issues, 2020 was a difficult year financially for all non-profits. Please consider giving a tax deductible donation to the Arc for the River Valley. Your donation will help us continue to provide support and services to those with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The Arc for the River Valley is a proud United Way partner agency. Look at these sharp cuts our members got on our Haircare day from the students at Designer Barber & Stylist School. Our members love getting their hair cut, and as an Arc member, they get their hair cut for free! If you missed this haircut you can go by their school and mention that you’re with the Arc and they’ll give you a free haircut.

Our members have had so much fun in the sun the last couple weeks as we’ve done our disc golf lessons with Noah from ACHE. Everyone has played so impressively and has been able to get in some good exercise outside. Noah donated lots of discs for our members, so know we’re looking into buying our own nets so our we can add this class into our regular rotation.

We had two volunteer days this month. We had teams, one from ABB and one from Target. The team from ABB helped us reorganize our art room and assemble our new shelves. It was a game changer and the room is so clean and tidy. The team from Target helped us w**d the garden and create some art projects for the coming weeks. We are so grateful when companies reach out to work with us, we are able to accomplish so much more with a large team. The Arc will be having our first Luau Back to School Bash for area teachers, aides and staff. The event will be on Saturday, August 2, 2025 from 11am to 1pm. Lunch will be available for all who attend plus a chance to win a gift card for some of those Back to School necessities! And that’s a wrap on our 2025 Alma Water park visit! Our members got to soak up some sun, spend time with friends, and enjoy a quick dinner! We had a great time at the Waterpark with Community Connections. We had over 100 members in attendance! Thanks so much to everyone who came out

One final reminder that our Alma Waterpark visit is tomorrow. We need to know if you are attending in advance. Please call us by 2pm today if you are going. Our number is 479-783-5529. If you do not preregister you may have to pay at the door. We are limited on how many can attend.

This event is from 7PM-9PM at the Alma Water Park. We will serve hot dogs, chips, and waters. Arc members get in free with one guest, any additional guests are $5 a piece.

Just a reminder that if you are coming to the Alma waterpark Saturday at 7:00, you MUST call and let us know by Friday at 2:00 PM. We need to provide a final attendance count to the waterpark. We will be closed Friday to prepare for this event.
