Mountain View Health Services Come on over - walk ins welcome!

08/18/2025

At the recent MVHS board of directors meeting this last week, the board decided to keep our income-based fee schedule in place despite the financial costs to the organization.

The board has directed us to provide care to those in need and charge only $20 per visit (with in-house labs and x-rays included) for those who provide proof on income at or below 100% of the poverty line.

This was an great leap of faith and our mission is now to ensure that this happens.

As a result of the new energy that resulted from the recent board decision, we have seen an influx of highly-trained staff wanting to volunteer.

With our board's leadership we will continue to provide health care to those who need it the most and we are now on a mission to recruit people who share this vision.

We need volunteer physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, nurses, social workers, counselors, and medical assistants to provide the most affordable and best quality healthcare to Mountain View.

Currently we are only open Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, but with the new staff coming, we plan to be open more days very soon.

Important Announcements:

Starting on August 18, the health center will be closed Monday - Thursday.

We will be open on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Our new hours will be announced later. Appointments are recommended, but walk in visits are welcome. We will expand our days and hours as we recruit more volunteers, we need Physicians, Physician Assistants, Nurse Practitioners and RNs.

We are pleased to announce new volunteer medical staff starting soon: Dr. Anneliese Petersen, Dr. Phillip Mendoza, and our new Physician Assistant volunteers: Teresa Lowe and Mikayla De Soto. Also new volunteer certified medical assistants: Kya, Regina, Marce, and Lena. And a new volunteer Registered Nurse: Liz Miner!

We are recruiting Physicians, Physician Assistants, Nurse Practitioners and RNs to join our all-volunteer team providing community health care to Mountain View. Please call us or stop by if you are interested in joining us.

Many thanks to all the individuals and organizations who have sustained us over the years! We want to especially thank the Carr Foundation, Dr. Malladi, Dr. Higgins, Crystal Miner, Suzanne Niemi, our staff and board of directors and families for their help with our journey towards becoming a Community Health Center.

Also thank you to all our long time donors and supporters, including our landlord, Ralf Kalenka. Thank you, we are in this journey for the long haul!

As your local Community Health Center for Mountain View, we are thankful for community support.

In the next months and years, we expect to see more patients in our community without health insurance or without access to government-supported health care services due to their political or employment status. MVHS will continue to work hard to keep our services in place for everyone and anyone regardless of their ability to pay. Having volunteer medical staff is how we will keep offering health care for people in need. We hope to open more days as soon as we are able.

Lastly, we are also excited to announce our new volunteer business manager: Tasha Hotch, MBA. Tasha is a resident of Mountain View and has a masters in business and project management and brings a wealth of experience in health care. If you would like to schedule a time to meet with Tasha to discuss volunteer opportunities, please call us or stop by the center. Thank you.

The clinic will be closed June 10-12 for a Federally Qualified Health Center Look Alike program site visit. This is the next stage in our journey to become a Federally Qualified Health Center. Three federal reviewers who are experts in the FQHC Look Alike model will be visiting us from the Lower 48 and one reviewer will be online. We are excited to have this opportunity. We apologize for the inconvenience this may cause. If you will be needing medication refilled during this time, please request them now so we can work on refilling medications. Thank you.

Official Notice and Request for P***c Comment, November 16, 2024.

The Board of Directors of Mountain View Health Services has officially applied to operate a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) in Anchorage serving the 99508 ZIP code. This action will restructure Mountain View Urgent Care into a publicly funded community health center if the designation is approved.

The Board of Directors has received feedback and/or letters of support in favor of the FQHC application from: Anchorage Neighborhood Health Center, South Central Foundation, Alaska Regional Hospital, Providence Alaska, Alaska Behavioral Health, Anchorage Coalition to End Homelessness, Volunteers of America, Anchorage Wellness Court, Anchorage Fire Department Mobile Crisis Team, Alaska Department of Health Primary Care Office, Mayor Suzanne LaFrance, Senator Dan Sullivan, Senator Lisa Murkowski, Senator Loki Tobin, Senator Forest Dunbar, Representative Genevieve Mina and many other community care providers.

The proposed service area for the new FQHC is the 99508 ZIP code. If the designation is received, Federal Government funds will be expended to provide primary care, behavioral health, substance abuse treatment, medical imaging, and pharmacy services to patients that reside in the proposed service area (99508). The intention is to provide these services to people who are not being currently served by other health centers and serve those with Medicare, Medicaid, and those without health insurance. The goal is to bring in additional resources to our community and not to duplicate or compete with other healthcare services currently being provided in the service area.

The designation will also come with funds designated for health care for those experiencing homelessness and our intention is to partner with other agencies already providing health care and outreach to those experiencing homelessness and not duplicate services.

We are requesting signed public comments from potentially affected individuals and healthcare businesses in the 99508 ZIP code. Comments are now being accepted through December 31, 2024. Signed comments will be received by mail or in-person at 3521 Mountain View Drive, Anchorage, Alaska 99508 and be made available for public viewing at the same address during business hours.

Our Story...

Mountain View Urgent Care offers high quality and convenient urgent medical services for all of Anchorage, but we are the premier local medical provider in the Mountain View community. Our mission is to provide compassionate and comprehensive care. Our core values are Compassion, Service, and Excellence. We offer exceptional service with extended hours to ensure Mountain View and Anchorage residents have immediate access to excellent care for non-life-threatening medical needs.

Mountain View Urgent Care offers services that may be compared to those performed in the “fast track” of a local Emergency Department - BUT with a considerable discount on price! Our on-site x-ray and laboratory, set us apart from primary care offices which do not offer these services. We offer on-going, immediate family medical care as-needed.

We have structured our pricing to serve everyone, especially families with high deductible insurance plans.

We are here in Mountain View, “Serving You” - the people of Alaska.
