LiveWell Finney County is proud to share that Deanna Berry has been named the 2025 Sr. Janice Thome Award recipient! 🎊

At our Annual Meeting & 25th Anniversary Celebration, we honored Deanna for her outstanding service, advocacy, and collaboration in advancing the health and well-being of southwest Kansas. 🤝💙🌾

👶📚 Deanna served as Executive Director of Russell Child Development Center (RCDC) from 2001–2021, leading transformative early childhood initiatives that still benefit families today. 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦🌟

🗳️💡 She also served on the LiveWell Finney County Board (2010–2022), lending her leadership and voice to improving community health. 💬🧭

The Sr. Janice Thome Award—named for longtime community advocate Dominican Sister Janice Thome—celebrates individuals who embody servant leadership and a commitment to healthier, stronger communities. 🙏🌱

Here are a few quick reminders for bike path safety:
✅ Always share the path—be courteous to walkers, runners, and other riders.
✅ Use hand signals when turning or stopping.
✅ Wear a helmet and make sure your bike has reflectors or lights.
✅ Stay alert—no earbuds blasting, so you can hear what’s happening around you.
✅ Slow down at intersections and yield to pedestrians.

🌟 Our Local Health Equity Action Team (LHEAT) has been busy this summer—and we’re excited to share one of our biggest projects!

📖 We’ve just finished the Food Resource Guide, a helpful tool that lists:
🍎 School nutrition programs
🥫 Local food pantries
📦 Emergency food box locations
🌱 Community gardens
…and other food security resources available in our community.

LIVEWELL FINNEY COUNTY TO CELEBRATE 25 YEARS

LiveWell Finney County invites the public to join in celebrating 25 years of improving the health, well-being, and safety of Finney County through collaboration and community-driven action.
The 25th anniversary celebration and annual meeting will be held at 12 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 26, at Southwind Golf and Dining.
The event will feature a keynote address by Ed O’Malley, President and CEO of the Kansas Health Foundation, who will share insights on the power of community health leadership across Kansas.
As part of the celebration, LiveWell will also present the 2025 Sr. Janice Thome Award, which honors individuals who demonstrate exceptional dedication to advancing community health and equity in Finney County. The award, named after its inaugural recipient Sr. Janice Thome, recognizes grassroots leaders who go above and beyond to create lasting, positive change.
Past recipients include Sr. Janice Thome and Polly Witt, former USD 457 Director of Health Services, known for her lifelong commitment to student wellness, public health, and compassionate care.
“This event is a celebration of what can happen when a community comes together with a shared purpose,” Callie Dyer, Executive Director of LiveWell Finney County, said. “We’re excited to reflect on our journey, recognize outstanding leadership through the Sr. Janice Thome Award, and look ahead to the next chapter of improving health for everyone in Finney County.”
Lunch will be provided, and all attendees are asked to register by Aug. 20 to ensure adequate accommodations.
