Our Veterans Day series concludes with another member of the UToledo Health team whose service to others continues every day.

Meet Danielle Lloyd, a Staff Nurse in the Infusion Clinic and Resource Utilization Coordinator in Outcomes Management, who served 17 years in the United States Air Force.

When asked how she continues to live out the values of service and dedication in her role, Danielle shared: “In my current role, I continue to live out the values of service and dedication by prioritizing integrity, compassion and accountability in caring for patients. Whether through direct patient care or supporting overall health and wellbeing, I approach each task with purpose. These values drive me to go above and beyond, always working to make a positive impact on the lives of those I care for.”

Our Veterans Day series continues with another UToledo Health team member who carries the values of service and dedication into their work every day.

Meet Alex Reiner, who works in Nuclear Medicine/PET and served in the U.S. Army from 2002 to 2010.

When asked how he continues to live out the values of service and dedication in his role, Alex shared: “I hold myself to a very high degree of pride, integrity and selfless service in my work — being conscientious of the needs of my patients and how I can better take care of the people working next to me to complete our collective mission.”

Meet Ashley Young, Nurse Lead at the UT Care Clinic, who served 24 years in the United States Air Force.

When asked how she continues to live out the values of service and dedication in her role, Ashley shared: “I live out the values of service and dedication by showing support to both the team I work with and our patients. By cultivating a positive work environment where individuals feel supported, our team can easily collaborate to solve problems and handle busy assignments. This ultimately leads to our patients receiving high-quality and compassionate care from a dedicated group who enjoy what they do.”

As our Veterans Day series continues, we’re proud to recognize those at UToledo Health who continue to lead and serve others every day.

Dr. Thomas Sodeman, Professor of Medicine and Associate Dean for Student Affairs, who served 17 years in the U.S. Army Reserve and 11 years in the Ohio Air National Guard.

When asked how he continues to live out the values of service and dedication in his role, Dr. Sodeman shared: “Military service means service to others, whether in your unit or the public in general. I continue to serve my patients and the entire medical student body through my work in the Office of Student Affairs, where we are oriented to their success.”

Meet Jeff Russell, Assistant Director of Hospital Security, who served in the United States Marine Corps from 2009 to 2015.

When asked how he continues to live out the values of service and dedication in his role, Jeff shared: “In my current role as an assistant director in security, I continue to live out the values of service and dedication instilled during my time in the USMC by prioritizing the safety and well-being of others, leading by example, and maintaining a strong commitment to integrity, discipline, and mission readiness every day.”

Paula Barret-Corson, a Pre-Op Staff Nurse, who served three years in the U.S. Army.

When asked how she continues to live out the values of service and dedication in her role, Paula shared: “There is an Army motto — 'I will not lie, cheat, nor steal, nor will I tolerate those that do.' I try to be open and honest with all patients and staff I come into contact with, treating every patient with the dignity and respect they deserve and giving 100% when I’m working.”
