The Pediatric Sail Away Program is about embark on its nineteenth year and we need your help! As you may know, the Sail Away Program provides the opportunity for children with cancer and other chronic illnesses from Hasbro Children's Hospital to get away from the hospital and the medicine and spend the day sailing with their friends in Newport, RI. This has proven to be truly positive experience. The children have the freedom and ability to help sail the boat during their day out on the water and their families are able to see them engaging in such a joyful activity. During the days out on the water, the pediatric residents act as chaperones, giving the children a chance to interact with their doctors outside of the hospital setting. We are able to provide this to patients wholly through the generosity of committed individuals such as yourself. We are so grateful for the donations that have been made by many of you in the past. Thank you so much! We are reaching out now to ask for your continued support as we make plans for trips out on the water this summer. Our goal is to continue to open this amazing opportunity up to as many children as possible dealing with chronic illnesses, at no cost to them. We ask that you consider donation to the Sail Away Program for the 2017 season. A donation of $75 provides two children with transportation, lunch and an afternoon of sailing with certified instructors in Newport with the Sail to Prevail organization (www.sailtoprevail.org). PLEASE consider helping to support this wonderful program through any donation that you are able to make. Feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns at hasbrosailaway@gmail.com
