Self-reflection is to observe or meditate on one's character, actions or motives.

There are many ways to self-reflect. One example is to use a self-reflection thermometer. Suppose you notice unhelpful behavioural patterns in your life. In that case, this is a helpful tool to identify how the intensity of your emotions can impact the severity of your actions, providing you with more self-awareness.

With this increased awareness, you can reflect on what other options you have to respond to during increased emotional distress, rather than automatically reacting.

There are many mental and physical benefits to eating healthy, but we know that sometimes it can be hard to find the balance to eat healthily.

Try these four tips below to encourage healthy eating:

1) Create a list of what you eat in a day. This can help you keep track of what you eat and help create healthier eating habits.

2) Plan ahead of time what meals you want to make and eat. This can help you avoid getting side-tracked and focus on what you need to make when the time comes.

3) Add variety to your meals. This way it can encourage you to stay creative and not bored with your meals as well as help satisfy any cravings you may have.

4) Swap unhealthy foods with healthier food options. For example, switching from white bread to whole wheat bread.

Remember to be kind to yourself, especially with eating. It is okay to eat what you want once in a while so that you are not being too restrictive on yourself. We want to encourage healthy eating, not unhealthy eating!

If you prepare yourself for success, the more successful you’ll be.

This can be applied in all facets of your life.

If you look at any habits that you have that currently are not helpful then you could substitute them with a healthy habit.

For example, instead of drinking a glass of wine before bed, you can substitute it with a soothing tea instead.

In little ways, you can prepare yourself for success!

Is anger just an emotion that is just all in your head?

This is a !

Although our thoughts can become exaggerated when we're angry, usually, there is a physiological response that comes before the thoughts, such as your face getting flushed, your heart rate increasing or feeling the tension in your body.

Learning how to relax your body and your mind is helpful in reducing the intensity of anger. When your mind is in a more relaxed state, you can think clearly about the situation, and choose to respond rather than react.

is about finding simple ways in which you can form the desired action into a habit.

The important part is keeping consistent and following through with the habit. One concept to think about in motivation is the concept of compounding positives; these are healthy habits that you do over time that may feel hard in the moment but provide a lot of rewards in the end.

Do you know about cognitive reframing?

Cognitive reframing is changing the way you view yourself and the world, by challenging and changing your thoughts to more realistic and balanced thoughts.

Many people, when they’re depressed, can have thoughts about feeling helpless, hopeless and worthless. In these scenarios, it is important to try to challenge those thoughts with something that’s more realistic and more positive to balance out those negative thoughts about themselves and the world.

Do you want to be better at reaching your ? Try goal setting!

You can start by identifying what small incremental steps can help you get to your goals in a realistic way. Also, identifying hindrances that may get in your way can help you take action so that you can avoid any of those barriers.

For example, if you would like to start going to the gym in the morning then try starting a workout from home until you feel comfortable enough to wake up and go to your local gym. A barrier you may face in this is waking up early. If you have a hard time waking up in the morning try having an alarm away from your bed so it requires you to walk to turn it off. This can help in getting out of bed.

Remember to always be kind to yourself when trying to achieve these goals!

Implementing healthy personal is a valuable tool in establishing what types of behaviour, communications or interactions you're willing to accept or tolerate from other people.

Boundaries are created to make you feel safe, rather than being used to control others.

Here is the four-step process to setting healthy boundaries:
1) Create and define your boundaries
2) Establish consequences if those boundaries are crossed
3) Communicate these boundaries clearly and directly
4) Follow through with the consequences if boundaries are crossed

Where could you set more healthy boundaries in your life?

28/03/2022

Do you know about responses?

Trauma response is when your brain thinks there's a threat and responds by releasing hormones such as cortisol and epinephrine (which is another word for adrenaline).

There are three well-known trauma responses that you may be familiar with; fight, flight and freeze. However, there is another trauma response that can be seen in childhood survivors of abuse, called the fawn response.

Anxiety can also trigger trauma responses because it makes the brain think that it is preparing the body to deal with the perceived threat or harm.
