Seagate School of Holistic Herbalism Kathryn Sisler Waple. Classes and workshops on making and using medicinal herbs.

Our training and focus is on the benefits and uses of whole plant preparations, such as infused oils, teas, tinctures and decoctions, rather than on the use of a single concentrated component of the plant, like essential oils. These types of preparations, used appropriately, tend to safer than isolated elements of the plant used in concentration. Whole plant preparations of nourishing, food-like herbs support the natural healing processes in and of the body.

Every time I get a bee sting my first thought it “Ah! Fire!” and then I feel sad and grateful for the life of the bee. As a beekeeper, the days of discomfort feel like a small exchange and helps to remind me to be more intentional, considerate, and aware of how I move through the world, so as to reduce, if I can, the harm I unintentionally cause other beings.

I do rely on my plant allies to aid in healing, and as soon as possible after the sting, I apply yarrow in either fresh plant or tincture form, and start taking echinacea. The herbal support reduces the swelling and itchiness to a reminder, instead of a painful distraction.

It all feels like part of the balance and inter connectedness.

🎉New class announcement! 🎉

When I rebranded Gray Cat Botanicals into the Seagate School for Holistic Herbalism, a main part of the vision was to create a space where herbalists of different perspectives and backgrounds could reach students, and where students of herbalism could meet and work with a variety of teachers in our community. I am so grateful and excited to introduce Jennifer Monroy of and host her class on Tea Blending!

Jennifer and I have been working together for several years, first as student and teacher, then in a mentorship relationship and I am proud to now call her a colleague! See her class description below and head on over to the website using the link in my bio to sign up and save your spot, because spaces are limited!

🌱Class Description:
