Bob and Gene were setting up the hay maze all day in the farm field.a They had a few bales of hay leftover so Gene decided to stack them in the corner of the maze making the hay walls unstable. Just as he finished before he knew it the hay walls caved-in and struck him on the head. Even though he said he felt fine except for a mild headache, Bob brought him to get checked out at urgent care. The provider diagnosed Gene with a concussion.

Code the scenario.

Happy Monday! Ready for this week's coding scenario?

After apple picking, Lily decided to use up some apples by making pies. She moved into her single family home last month and couldn't find her apple peeler so decided to use a sharp knife to peel the apples. Just as she was peeling the first apple she cut her index finger. It looked like a lot of blood so she decided to go to the emergency room. The provider cleaned the laceration and applied dermabond.

What ICD-10-CM codes will we use? If you're feeling brave, you can include the CPT coding as well 😀

This has been fun, getting answers from everyone! Great job! See the answers below.

This week's scenario:
While at the apple orchard Kevin and his friends decided to have a contest to see who could climb the highest tree. Kevin reached the highest point of the apple tree, raised his arms above his head to do a victory cheer and lost his balance falling to the ground.
After x-rays were performed it was determined that he fractured his left forearm.
What ICD-10-CM codes will be coded?

S52.92XA - unspecified fractured of left forearm
W14.###A - fall from tree
Y92.74 - orchard as the place of occurrence

Have a great weekend! A new fall scenario will be posted on Monday, I hope you all participate again!

Apple picking season is starting! Let's have some fun and code some fun scenarios! Starting this week until the end of September I'll be posting a scenario at the beginning of each week and the codes at the end of the week. You can PM me what you think the codes should be or you can leave it as a comment. Don't be shy! If your answer isn't correct, look at it as a learning experience!
