The Emerald Sketch was immediately established as an art therapy response team organized for child

Nicole Porter (Willcox) Davis founded the Emerald Sketch due to an assessed need for art therapy services for Sandy Hook and Newtown community members. For eighteen months consistent art therapy services were directed for individuals and small groups of all ages devastated by the Sandy Hook School tragedy. Currently for the Newtown community the Emerald Sketch maintains Art therapy educational workshops, private Assessments and Referrals, Clinical Supervision, and cooperative group therapies.

Red Yarn (aka Andy Furgeson) is a Texas-born, Oregon-based family performer who weaves music and puppetry into high-energy shows for all ages. With his engaging performances, rowdy folk-rock recordings, and playful music videos, this red-bearded bard reinvigorates American roots music traditions for younger generations.

Much has been happening in 2025, and less posting! Here is glamour photo with K.T. Korngold Honoree of the Woodland Hill Montessori 60th Anniversary soiree!

She is an original child of the first primary class, as her mother was co-founder to the original program.

KT Korngold continues the Montessori legacy training all over the globe and leading another legendary program Kornberg Children’s Montessori Center.

The new friendship and fortitude of invigorating ideas to bolster child advocacy locally and globally inspires more updates!

Thank you to all the advocates and wall scribblers out there! Let’s keep redrawing the lines!

Emerald Sketch app had a makeover and now running with the true identity!

If you are a parent looking for support this app is built to give you arts therapy tasks you can do individually and as a family or small group. It gets you back off the screen and engaging with creative arts materials.

Keep the spirit bright and cheerful!

This is a tough eve for many of the Emerald Sketch artists as we approach the morning of December 14, twelve years following the devastating Sandy Hook School tragedy.

From our hearts to the worlds - no words can fill the hole in the heart when children are taken from this earth -

Here we turn inward to creativity and expression together as a community. Sending love and strength to all the people out there mourning and healing this December.

During tough times adults may have difficulty maintaining a sense of calm and mindful presence for children. Be thoughtful of this, and take breaks as you need them.

If you feel overwhelmed, it is okay to say that out loud and take a break (even a few minutes to yourself).

Who are your people when you need a hug?

Now based in our homes and responding on the frontlines of COVID19 Response in New York City & Brooklyn. The Emerald Sketch ART program exists to provide Community Crisis Outreach across the nation.

Due to an assessed need for art therapy services for Sandy Hook and Newtown community members, a small group of concerned and devastated civilians joined together to create the original Emerald Sketch program. For eighteen months consistent art therapy services were directed for individuals and small groups of all ages devastated by the Sandy Hook School tragedy.
