Emerald Sketch The Emerald Sketch was immediately established as an art therapy response team organized for child

Nicole Porter (Willcox) Davis founded the Emerald Sketch due to an assessed need for art therapy services for Sandy Hook and Newtown community members. For eighteen months consistent art therapy services were directed for individuals and small groups of all ages devastated by the Sandy Hook School tragedy. Currently for the Newtown community the Emerald Sketch maintains Art therapy educational workshops, private Assessments and Referrals, Clinical Supervision, and cooperative group therapies.

The war on Ukraine continues.

The Emerald Sketch took action immediately years ago, translating the Arts therapy Mass child trauma response methodology into Ukrainian.

We are preparing to launch more virtual trainings, and clinical support for the clinicians and families on the ground in Ukraine.

The massacre in Newtown, Connecticut was a devastation beyond any fathomable sense of dictation….

Today marks thirteen years since the Newtown tragedy, a precipice in America’s experience and perception of pain due to child devastation, yet here we stand continuing to advocate, fight, collaborate, and forge so much more for peaceful gain.

Taking time this very day to lead meditations and arts therapy sessions for now young adult survivors - this seems poignant to pull some memos from the past and broadcast how WE ARE AMIDST A POLYCRISIS for our children today!

In honor of all the families who continue to fight for freedom, and the children seeking unconditional love, and human connection, the Emerald Sketch will be posting more news and updates on the ongoing programming and masterful opportunities.

There is tsunami scale need for child trauma response currently. Please stay vigilant, more news soon.

This clip is the intro to a “Roots of the Emerald Sketch” throwback series briefly exploring Porter’s entry into early childhood trauma, and the Emerald Sketch arts therapy response work through the music portal of Philadelphia.

Porter chose this piece as a representation of the endurance and tenacity gained when stepping into the proper pattern of choices to elevate the lives of others, and contribute to a better state of community for our children, most significantly amidst the most henious villains of evil.

There is no word in any language for losing a child, especially to devastating horror.

This Fall/Winter we will be introducing more opportunities to help us implement more arts therapy programming for child survivors of trauma.

Our Story

Now based in our homes and responding on the frontlines of COVID19 Response in New York City & Brooklyn. The Emerald Sketch ART program exists to provide Community Crisis Outreach across the nation.

Due to an assessed need for art therapy services for Sandy Hook and Newtown community members, a small group of concerned and devastated civilians joined together to create the original Emerald Sketch program. For eighteen months consistent art therapy services were directed for individuals and small groups of all ages devastated by the Sandy Hook School tragedy.

The Emerald Sketch maintains a referral system as a child and family advocate for all families across the nation. Our services includes a vast array of Creative Arts therapy programming for Trauma Response, and now online:
