Birth Matters:

I believe that birth is an event to be experienced, not to be endured. I support families who are seeking to have a fulfilling birth experience. I believe that birth is an integral moment in the parent-child relationship, and the emotions surrounding birth carry significance for the rest of a person’s life. Pregnancy, Birth, and Breastfeeding are Normal Events:

I support physiological birth. I believe pregnancy, birth, and breastfeeding are transformational experiences, whether or not they go according to plan. I promote the midwifery model of care. Birth is Best with Support:

Doulas are shown to decrease medical interventions, increase the likelihood of spontaneous vaginal birth, and increase the satisfaction of a birth experience. I provide comforting and peaceful reassurance paired with the knowledge and intimate understanding of the birth process. My purpose is to support you so you can have your best birth.

Our Story

I believe in you. Such a simple, but profound, sentiment, isn’t it? It’s true! Your body was meant to do this. Your baby was meant to do this. I am here to help you do this.

I am Renee Forred, CD(DONA), the owner of Bloom Birth Services, and I’m certified by DONA International. I support all types of births, birth plans, and birth locations. My work emphasizes supporting the partner so they can confidently support the laboring person. I’ve been honored to hold space for 30+ births in the Sioux Falls area since 2016. My passion for birth began with my first pregnancy, and since then I’ve had three very unique and beautiful birth experiences that have transformed the way that I see myself, my partner, my body, and my babies.

I am amazed by the power of our bodies and minds. In addition to supporting birth, I spend my time playing with my family, writing, reading, and running. In 2009, I graduated from Northern State University with a Bachelor’s of Science in Psychology and spent several years in social work before I settled in birth work full time. I would be honored to support you and your family in the extraordinary endeavors of pregnancy, labor, and childbirth. Let’s discuss your plans and how I can help you have a beautiful birth experience. I am actively accepting birth doula clients birthing within an hour of Sioux Falls, SD. I’m happy to work with clients birthing at hospital or home.
