Reger Funeral Home & Cremation Services Reger Funeral Home and Cremation Services The Reger Funeral Home was founded in 1903 in Martins Ferry, Ohio by Henry Reger (1881-1968). Henry’s son, James H.

During his years as a funeral director, he was also the coroner of Belmont Counts, Ohio. After serving the people of Martins Ferry for 10 years he decided to move to Spencer, West Virginia where he practiced as a licensed funeral director. In 1924 the decision was made to come to Huntington, West Virginia where Henry established the Reger Funeral Home on Jefferson Avenue. Two years later, a move w

as made to the current location of Adams Avenue. Reger (1903-1986) became licensed a year after the move to Adams Avenue, in 1927. Thus, James became the second generation of Reger’s to serve the people of Huntington. The two quickly established ties to the community and continued to improve the funeral home. In 1948 the Reger’s decided to build a 250 seat chapel that still stands today, improving the quality of service offered to their families. The third generation of funeral directors was established when George E. Reger (1932-1999) attained his funeral directing license in 1957. George served as the President of the West Virginia Funeral Directors Association in 1986 and was named “Funeral Director of the Year” by the West Virginia Funeral Directors Association in 1995. In 1987 the fourth generation of Reger’s began when Patrick J. Reger became licensed. Patrick followed in his father George’s footsteps by serving as the president of the West Virginia Funeral Directors Association in 1996. Starting in 1999 George Michael Reger became a licensed funeral director and joins his brother Patrick on the staff of the Reger Funeral Home. The Reger’s have always enjoyed serving the community in many different ways. Beginning with Henry and continuing down the line of succession they have donated vehicles to the local emergency services and police department. Their community involvement continued in 1998 when the members of the funeral home dedicated a memorial park for veterans, which is located adjacent to the funeral home. Throughout the intervening years, we have made many improvements to the park, in honor of our community's veterans. The oldest family owned and operated funeral home in the Tri-State area, The Reger family still own and operate the funeral home for over four generations.

Patricia Ann France

Patricia (Pat) France, 83, of South Point, Ohio, passed peacefully through the gates of Heaven on July 2, 2025, at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House of Huntington, West Virginia.

Pat was born on July 10, 1941, in Huntington, West Virginia, to the late Charles T. Carico and Anna Lee Carico. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James R. France.

Pat's greatest joy in life was her family, whom she loved deeply and unconditionally. She is survived by her siblings: Charlene Carico of Proctorville, Ohio, and Roberta T. (Lamar) Gillespie of Winder, Georgia and Charles T. "Bugs" (Vicki) Carico of Huntington. Her loving children: Robin Dickess of South Point, Ohio; Robert Kirtland of Georgia; and Patrick (Ruth) Kirtland of Georgia. Her cherished grandchildren: Felesha (TR) Hannan of Chesapeake, Ohio; Shawn (Jaclynn) Kirtland of Georgia; Kyle (Stephanie) Dickess of South Point, Ohio; Austin (Sara) Kirtland, Tyler (Haley) Kirtland, and Rachel Kirtland, all of Georgia.

She was blessed with nine great-grandchildren, who brought her endless pride and joy: Kyndrix, Kerrington, and Kruz Blake; Jacob, Nathan, and Grayson Kirtland; Whitten and Jonah Dickess; and Saylor Larson.

She retired from the VA Hospital in 1997. After retiring, she kept the roads hot – traveling, attending her grandchildren’s sporting events even though she didn’t have a clue what was going on, she never missed an episode of her favorite soap operas, and her most favorite pastime of all: going to the movies- sometimes even watching multiple films at the theater in a single day. Gran was known for her blunt honesty that could make you laugh even when you didn’t want to. She told it like it was no matter if you were family or a stranger.

Funeral service will be conducted by Officiant Shawn Kirtland at 1:00 PM on Friday, July 11, 2025 at Reger Funeral Chapel Huntington. Burial will follow in White Chapel Memorial Gardens. Friends may call from noon until service time on Friday, July 11, 2025 at Reger Funeral Home, Huntington.
