Position Title: HVAC Sheet Metal Foreman
Department: Construction
Reports To: Sheet Metal Superintendent
Position Summary
The HVAC Sheet Metal Foreman is responsible for supervising and coordinating the installation of ductwork and sheet metal systems for heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) projects. This role ensures that field crews work safely, efficiently, and according to plans, specifications, and code requirements. The Sheet Metal Foreman serves as the key liaison between project management, other trades, and the installation team, ensuring quality and timely completion of all assigned work.
Key Responsibilities
-Supervise, direct, and schedule daily work activities of sheet metal installers and apprentices.
-Review blueprints, drawings, and specifications to plan duct layout and installation.
-Ensure accurate installation of ductwork, fittings, and accessories for supply, return, and exhaust systems.
-Maintain compliance with OSHA safety standards and company policies; lead daily safety meetings and enforce safe work practices.
-Coordinate manpower, materials, tools, and equipment to maintain productivity and schedule.
-Inspect duct installation for accuracy, quality, and adherence to mechanical codes and project requirements.
-Work with project managers, superintendents, and general contractors to resolve field issues and sequencing conflicts.
-Train, mentor, and evaluate apprentices and less experienced crew members.
-Complete daily reports, timecards, and jobsite documentation as required.
Ensure proper use and maintenance of equipment, tools, and jobsite resources.
Qualifications
-Minimum 5+ years of sheet metal/HVAC duct installation experience, with at least 2+ years in a supervisory or lead role.
-Strong knowledge of HVAC duct fabrication, installation, and mechanical systems.
-Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
-Working knowledge of SMACNA standards and mechanical codes.
-Proven leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
-OSHA 30 certification (preferred) or willingness to obtain.
-Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
-Physically able to lift 50+ lbs and work in various site conditions.
