🌿✨ Midwife Tip: Is dōTERRA Deep Blue Safe in Pregnancy & Postpartum? ✨🌿
As a midwife, safety is always my priority especially for mamas-to-be and new parents.
I often get asked: “Can I use Deep Blue while pregnant or postpartum?”
✅ Yes! When used correctly, Deep Blue is a fantastic support for sore muscles, hip/back pain, and postpartum aches.
👉 Key ingredient to know: Camphor.
There are three types:
✅ White Camphor = Safe when diluted, soothing, cooling.
❌ Brown Camphor = Unsafe (contains safrole).
❌ Yellow Camphor = Also unsafe (toxic compounds).
🌿 dōTERRA uses ONLY White Camphor in Deep Blue.
✔️ Pharmaceutical-grade.
✔️ Free of toxic constituents.
✔️ Safe for pregnancy/postpartum use when applied topically and appropriately diluted.
💙 How to use it:
✨ Apply to hips, back, shoulders, feet.
✨ Avoid the belly in pregnancy.
✨ Always dilute more if you have sensitive skin.
🤰 Perfect for:
🌸 Pregnancy hip & back pain
🌸 Postpartum muscle soreness
🌸 Breastfeeding & baby wearing strain
I love having Deep Blue in my birth bag, and many of my clients are so grateful for its cooling, comforting gentle relief.

Pregnancy, birth, and caring for a newborn are some of the most sacred (and sometimes overwhelming) seasons of life. Over the years, I’ve had the honor of walking alongside thousands of women during this time—and I know just how powerful natural tools can be.
That’s why I wrote Essential Oils for Pregnancy, Birth, and Babies.
In this book, I’ve gathered safe, effective essential oil recommendations for the most common conditions we face in these tender months—nausea, swelling, anxious feelings, labor support, postpartum recovery, infant care, and more.
👉 These are oils that work.
👉 These are protocols that honor your body.
👉 This is guidance you can trust.
Because while many pharmaceuticals can’t be used during pregnancy or on babies, essential oils absolutely can. And they can make a world of difference.
This book is for the full journey—the 9 months before and the 9 months after birth. Whether you’re expecting your first or you’ve done this before, this is a resource to have in your hands and in your home.
You’re not alone. You were designed to do this. And I’m here to support you every step of the way. 💜

Pregnancy can come with its fair share of challenges, and varicose veins are no exception. This simple blend promotes circulation and provides soothing relief, helping you feel more comfortable:

💧 Pro Tip: Swimming is a fantastic exercise during pregnancy! Not only is it gentle on your body (you weigh just one-tenth of your weight in water!), but it also supports your kidneys, ligaments, and joints. Dive in for some self-care! 🏊♀️

Breastfeeding Tips
Avoid Peppermint as it may decrease milk supply. All other oils should be fine, just use common sense. Blends with Peppermint should be ok but use a small amount and see how your body responds. Increase - Take 2 drops of Fennel and Copaiba internally 3-4 times a day, 1-2 drops of Basil topically on the breast, avoiding the ni**le, 3-4 times a day may help increase milk supply by the next day.
When increase is noticed, there is no need to continue. This is not meant to be an everyday routine. Your body should take over from there and make the increased amount. Two to three days of this routine should be sufficient.
Nurse as often as you can to help bring up the supply and demand.
Drink 3-4 quarts of water.
Zinc is used up by the body when sick or stressed, and low zinc levels are linked to low milk supply as well as postpartum hair loss. Zinc supplements can be taken every day.
Use anti-stress/relaxation oils like Wild Orange, Balance, Lavender or Frankincense.
Take a whole food vitamin like Lifelong Vitality every day.
Add PB Assist+ and Adaptiv to your daily routine to support healthy immune and emotional support.
If you've been struggling with persistent bloating, gut discomfort, or just feel like your digestion could use some TLC, it might be time to dig deeper. 🩺🌿

🌞💧 Hey Mama…As we move into summer with hotter days and the sun shines longer, it's time to get outside and get moving! But did you know that as our activity levels rise, so do our hydration needs? Water alone might not cut it—it's all about electrolytes! ⚡️
Why are electrolytes so essential? Our bodies are made up of 60-70% water, and every drop plays a vital role in keeping us healthy. They help with everything from cushioning joints to flushing out toxins. But when we sweat and lose fluids, we also lose important electrolytes like sodium, potassium, magnesium, and calcium. If we don’t replace them, we might experience fatigue, headaches, brain fog, and more. 😩
MetaPWR Recharge to the rescue! This isn't just any hydration drink—it's packed with a balanced blend of high-quality electrolytes and trace minerals designed to recharge your cells and keep you feeling your best. 🌟
✨ Sodium: For fluid balance and muscle function
✨ Potassium: Supports heart health and muscle contractions
✨ Magnesium: Calms the nervous system and boosts energy
✨ Calcium: Maintains strong bones and proper muscle function
✨ Baobab Fruit Extract: Rich in antioxidants and supports gut health
✨ Deep Ocean Minerals: Enhances hydration and cellular energy
✨ Ginseng Root Extract: Boosts energy and mental clarity
You don’t have to be an athlete to benefit from electrolytes—everyone needs them, especially in pregnancy! Whether you're running errands, enjoying a walk, or just soaking up the sun, MetaPWR Recharge is a delicious way to stay hydrated and energized. 💪
So here’s your friendly reminder: drink up, recharge well, and power your life with intention!
Simply rub in your palms and inhale, then apply to your pulse points, including inside forearms, back of your neck, and ears as often as needed.
TIP: Did you know…the most common nutritional deficiencies in those with postpartum sadness are B vitamins, omega-3’s and magnesium. My recommendation is dōTERRA’s VMG+ or Life Long Vitality supplements.

Stephanie Fritz, also known as The Essential Midwife, has a very successful midwifery practice in Southeast Arizona. She covers an area 2.5 hours all around her from the desert to the mountains. Many of her out-of-hospital births are in very rural areas. She is the mother of four daughters, three of which were born at home, and all breastfed. These experiences have shaped her vision of what women’s health care should be. She knows first-hand what a difference information and a sense of control can make when having a baby.
She believes that knowledge is power. With comfort, support, trust and privacy, birth can be simple and beautiful. She loves to empower the families she serves through education and choices, by teaching them that as they take their health into their own hands they can improve their lives.
She believes the relationship with her clients is very important, and can have a big impact on the birth. She often says her clients are her best friends. She offers in depth and personal prenatal visits where care is given to the mother’s emotional needs as well as the normal physical assessment of mother’s and baby’s well-being. It is important to feel comfortable, as this is the time to bond and create trusting relationships. Her clients will tell you she has a special gift to always make you feel better when you leave than when you came. It’s not uncommon for tears and laughter to be shared in the same hour.
She has enjoyed using essential oils since the 80”s with her family and has experienced the many benefits they offer. Over the last several years the quality and purity of essential oils has improved and far surpassed anything she has used in the past. In 2008 she was introduced to a quality of therapeutic essential oils that she felt confident in using with her clients and their babies as a natural health solution. She has watched her clients’ health and comfort increase dramatically in the last eight years both physically as well as emotionally with these gifts of the earth.
She loves to share how these powerful plant extracts can empower you whether you are a midwife, doula, mom or just someone who wants to take control of your health in a natural way.
“Essential oils are one of the most powerful tools I have in helping to keep the family’s I serve happy and healthy. I know these essential oils have helped my clients have an easier pregnancy, labor and postpartum as well as ease my job as their midwife.”
Essential oils have the potential to enhance and compliment every woman’s right to a fabulous pregnancy, labor and birth experience.
