If you can’t see me running there is a problem! I do love me some florescent yellow! Safety first when running because it can be like playing frogger with the cars.

When your run starts in the cold but ends in full-on warm sunshine 😅 layered up, peeled back, and locked into a strong 6.5 mile progressive run. There’s nothing like finishing faster than you started and feeling your body wake up with every mile. This is where the magic happens ✨

The Bridge run is done! Now I am am shifting my focus to recovery and endurance. Over the next few months I am turning my attention to building up my endurance through the summer and then come fall…it’s half marathon training!

Running at 48 — especially in the heat and humidity — means even short runs require intention. What used to be a quick, easy few miles now calls for hydration, electrolytes, and sometimes even a small fuel plan. Perimenopause can affect temperature regulation, heart rate, and energy levels, so listening to your body becomes part of the training.

These days I don’t head out the door without water or a plan. Short runs still build strength, consistency, and mental toughness — but they also remind me that adapting is part of staying strong.

Today was ALL the killer leg exercises — squats, RDLs, lunges… the whole lineup. This phase is no joke, but this is where strength gets built and race day gets earned.

Trying to survive the grind while trusting the process. Bridge Run is coming. 💪

Strong legs. Strong mind. Let’s go.

8.5 mile block run ✔️ and it truly wasn’t as bad as I expected. The misty rain kept the temps cool and made the miles feel smooth and steady.

With 28 days until the Bridge Run, every longer effort feels a little more real. These are the workouts that build confidence — not flashy, just consistent. One more solid step toward the start line.

5.5 mile interval run in the books and hands down the hardest speed workout I’ve done so far. 🥵

But here’s the plot twist… I’ll take cold air over Saturday’s 68° + 88% humidity ANY day. My splits were stronger, my breathing felt more controlled, and mentally I just felt sharper. Cold weather running hits different.

Also… can we talk about the Saucony Endorphin Speed 4? Absolute favorite shoe in my rotation right now. Lightweight, responsive, and they just go when it’s time to push pace. For intervals? Elite.

Training at 48 is about working smart, embracing the hard days, and stacking wins — even when it burns.

Cold weather > humidity.
Speed 4s > everything (right now 😉).

Barbell squats made their return today and let’s just say… we’re not best friends yet. 😅

It’s been a hot minute since I loaded up a barbell, and while I know heavy compound lifts build serious strength, power, and bone density (which matters even more at 48 👊), that doesn’t mean I suddenly love them.

But here’s the truth:
I don’t lift because it’s easy.
I lift because it supports my running, protects my knees, and keeps me strong for the long game.

Progress over preference. Every time.

68° with 88% humidity for a 4.5 mile easy run and WOW… that was not “easy.” The pace range was all over the place and it felt like breathing through a wet towel. My Boom stick definitely helped keep things moving, but this one was a straight up grind.

The good news? Back to 40° next week and I’ll be flying. 🙌

Sometimes easy miles aren’t about pace — they’re about effort, grit, and getting it done anyway.

Took my new Garmin 165 out for a 5K pace trial and I’m honestly impressed. The watch tracked smoothly, pacing felt dialed in, and somehow I still hit a 5K PR 🤯 — even while being a little under the weather and running on less-than-great sleep. Proof that consistency beats perfect conditions every time. Not every run feels amazing, but sometimes you surprise yourself when you just show up and trust the process. Big win today.
