Returning to work can be a stressful time for all parents, but especially for breastfeeding mommas.

Here are a few tips to make your transition a little smoother:

~ Start pumping a few weeks before returning to work to build a freezer stash

~ Invest in a quality pump (check if insurance covers it)

~ Label & store milk safely (don’t forget a cooler bag)

~Talk to your employer about pumping breaks and private space

~ Nurse before and after work to maintain connection and supply

Want personalized tips? The providers at Fairhope Pediatrics understand the working parent juggle so give us a call today to schedule an appointment to chat.

Time to size up?

Here’s how to know if your newborn needs the next diaper size: Tabs don’t meet in the middle or pop open, red marks on baby’s thighs or belly, frequent leaks or blowouts, or your baby hits the weight limit for the current size.

Still unsure?

Bring your questions to your next check-up or send our phone nurses a message today.

A vaccination record is an official summary of all vaccines your child has received. You may need it for school, daycare, sports, or travel.

We keep this information on file and can provide it upon request. We typically can provide this document to you the same day by uploading to your child’s portal or securely emailing. You do not need to visit our office to receive a copy unless your child needs any vaccinations to become up-to-date.

If you are unsure if your child’s vaccines are up-to-date, call or send us a message today to discuss with one of our staff members.

We’re celebrating two years with Ari at Fairhope Pediatrics!

Ari joined the team just one week before starting nursing school, and now—two years later—she’s officially a Registered Nurse after passing her NCLEX! We’re so proud of her journey and grateful for the care she brings to our clinic every day.

She’s known for being organized, goal-oriented, and always ready to connect with patients. When she’s not at work, you’ll find her by the water with a good book or trying out a new restaurant. She’s also the first to show up for office birthdays—because cake just makes everything better.

Join us in congratulating Ari on her anniversary and this exciting new chapter in her career!

A balanced lunch helps kids stay focused and energized throughout the school day. Aim to include a protein (like turkey, beans, or cheese), a fruit or vegetable, a whole grain, and a healthy fat.

Don’t forget a water bottle to stay hydrated. Small portions of treats are okay, but try to limit sugary drinks and processed snacks.

Here is a fun snack that you can include in your child’s lunchbox this school year:

No-Bake Peanut Butter Energy Bites

Ingredients:
- 1 cup old-fashioned oats
- ½ cup natural peanut butter
- ¼ cup honey
- ¼ cup mini chocolate chips (optional)
- 2 tablespoons ground flaxseed or chia seeds
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions:
1) Combine all ingredients in a mixing bowl.
2) Stir until well mixed.
3) Roll into small 1-inch balls.
4) Chill in the fridge for at least 30 minutes before serving.

These bites are packed with protein and fiber—perfect for lunchboxes or after-school snacks!

Allergy note: You can substitute sunflower seed butter or almond butter if needed.

Do you have a favorite healthy snack? Share with us below.

It’s common for teens to shift friend groups as they grow, explore new interests, or navigate social changes. These transitions can be confusing or even upsetting, but they’re a normal part of adolescence.

Parents can support friendship changes by staying informed, encouraging healthy peer interactions, and taking the opportunity to meet new friends when possible.

Let us know if you’d like to talk about how to support your teen through it. We also understand teens may need a space to talk things out without parents too. They’re welcome to make an appointment with a provider to discuss any personal or social concerns.

Is your teen heading off to college? Do you have questions about managing their medications?

Managing medications independently is an important part of preparing for college life. Make sure your student knows when and how to take their meds, has enough refills, and understands how to get in touch with their provider if issues arise. Set reminders if needed and keep a list of medications in an accessible place.

We’re happy to help you and your college student get everything organized before the semester starts. Call us to schedule a prep visit.

As your child ages, the vaccines they received during infancy and toddlerhood begin to have decreased levels in their immune system so boosters are needed.

School-age kids need important boosters such as Tdap, MMR, and varicella. These vaccines prevent diseases like whooping cough and measles, which can still pose risks in school communities.

Staying up to date keeps everyone safe.

Call our office today to make sure your child is ready for the school year with all required vaccines or send us a message through the portal.

As the school year approaches, it’s important to start easing kids back into a consistent sleep schedule. Begin adjusting bedtime and wake-up times gradually about 15 minutes earlier every few days until they match the school routine. Keep bedtime calm by limiting screens in the hour before sleep and establishing a predictable wind-down routine like reading or a warm bath.

Consistent wake-up times, even on weekends, help regulate your child’s internal clock and make mornings less stressful.

Some fun, but appropriate pre-bedtime activities include reading, writing, drawing, building legos, and meditation.

If your child is still struggling with sleep despite these strategies, our providers at Fairhope Pediatrics can help identify underlying issues and offer tailored solutions based on their age and development.

Call us today to schedule an appointment.

Well visits are an important part of keeping your child healthy, especially during the early years when growth and development happen fast.

In the first two years of life, your child will be seen more frequently, and after age 3, they’ll typically have a well visit once a year, along with any additional visits when needed.

Your child won’t get vaccines at every visit, but immunizations are an important part of preventive care. Your provider will help you understand what vaccines are recommended and when, based on your child’s age, medical history, and current guidelines.

These visits also include screenings to support your child’s development, behavior, and emotional well-being. Some visits may include hearing or vision screens starting in early childhood, depending on your child’s age and your pediatrician’s protocols.

Have questions about what to expect at upcoming visits, or what immunizations your child might need? Give our office a call to speak with a member of the team.
