🌿 May is Mental Health Awareness Month 🌿
First observed in 1949, Mental Health Awareness Month was established to increase awareness and understanding of mental health, reduce stigma, and celebrate recovery. Today, it's more important than ever that we keep the conversation going—because mental health is health.
At Lee Side Wellness, we see every day how mental health challenges affect individuals and families. We also see the power of early support, open dialogue, and compassionate care.
🧠 Why It Matters:
1 in 5 adults in the U.S. experiences a mental health condition each year. Despite how common these challenges are, stigma still prevents many people from seeking help. Mental Health Awareness Month is a chance to normalize the conversation, check in with ourselves and others, and remind everyone that support is available—and healing is possible.
💚 What You Can Do:
Check in with yourself: Pay attention to your mood, sleep, energy, and stress levels. It's okay to ask for help.
Reach out to others: A simple text or call can mean a lot. Let people know they’re not alone.
Make mental health part of your routine: Movement, rest, connection, and boundaries all support emotional well-being.
Talk to a professional: Therapy and psychiatric support are acts of strength, not weakness.
This month and always, let’s commit to caring for our mental health the way we care for our physical health. Whether you're seeking support for yourself or someone you love, we're here to help.
