A comprehensive EYE rejuvenation!

For years, this delightful patient felt that her heavy eyelids and undereye bags made her appear tired and aged beyond her years. If you look closely at the forehead, you will see quite of bit of straining present in her preop photos, as the brows are working hard to keep the heavy tissues and excess skin off the eyes. In the after photo, this strain is relieved and the eyes look relaxed and pleasant. These are the tiny details that make the biggest difference in one’s appearance without imparting the dreaded “operated look”.

I performed the following procedures to address her concerns:

➕Temporal lift: to reset the brows, alleviate heaviness and open up the outer corner of the eye

➕Upper blepharoplasty: to trim excess skin that was hiding her natural crease and impinging on her vision

➕Lower blepharoplasty with fat repositioning: to remove while simultaneously restoring volume to the hollow region and trim excess skin

So excited to share this result on my beautiful patient that underwent lower blepharoplasty with fat transposition to correct her premature undereye bags.

This can affect anyone, even those in their 20s and 30s, often due to genetic factors.

What a joy seeing my dear friend-turned-patient for her 6 month post-operative visit today! Yvette was one of the first people I encountered in the aesthetic community when I moved to Austin almost 5 years ago. She was so kind, gracious, and welcoming to me when she didn’t have to be to a newcomer. Today, I celebrated my Birthday in the Operating Room, doing what I love- transforming faces and confidence!

I had the privilege of operating on a remarkable patient that lost 170lbs and decided to have surgery to correct some premature aging changes that typically occur with weight loss.

What a time to reflect on my blessings. Still have to pinch myself that I own my private practice, operate an on-site surgical facility, lead an OR team, serve as a mentor, and get to meet incredible individuals on a daily basis that give me the honor of trusting me with their faces.

Trading in “tired” for TIMELESS ✨

I commonly treat patients in their 20s-30s that exhibit undereye bags. Although many people develop this as a natural part of aging, premature undereye bags are usually due to genetic factors, like a weak membrane that supports the fat pads and normally holds them in place deeper in the eye socket.

With premature weakening of this membrane, the fat pads are able to protrude out and cause a bulge, cast a shadow, and impart a puffy, tired appearance.

Luckily, a lower blepharoplasty procedure can be performed to release the fat pads and move them down into the tear trough below. This decreases the puffy appearance while simultaneously filling in the shadows below. This is one of the most rewarding procedures to perform!

Note the special photography techniques we use when evaluating and demonstrating improvement with this condition. The patient looks up, which causes maximal protrusion of the bulging fat forward. Flash is turned off to emphasize the true shadows. In the after photos, the same concepts are used for a true comparison in the least favorable conditions.

As you can see here, my beautiful patient has regained her vibrant, youthful appearance and no longer has unfavorable undereye bags. We are both thrilled with her natural transformation!

I will never stop raving about Deep Structural Necklifts! This procedure is the gift that just keeps on giving.

A Deep Structural Necklift is THE gold standard approach to a more defined neck and jawline. Here we have my beautiful patient that presented to me with concerns of fullness under her chin. This was something she struggled with throughout her whole life. She has an active life and wants to enjoy it to the fullest the way we all should without these areas bringing us down. She took her time researching, took action, and could not be happier! She was the perfect candidate for a deep structural necklift, with reduction of submandibular glands, deep fat sculpting, hyoid setback, and platysmaplasty.

What a delight catching up with my lovely patient 4 months after she underwent a comprehensive facial rejuvenation, including:

The first time we met, she told me about her life as a ballroom dancer in her younger years. The aging changes that took toll added bulk and heaviness to her neck, jowling to her jawline, and hooding/shadowing to her beautiful eyes. She reminisced about the feeling of grace and elegance every time she took stage, and how she longed to feel that way again.

At 4 months postop, she still has quite a bit of fine-tuning left in terms of swelling and healing, but even so, we both couldn’t be happier with her rejuvenated, refreshed appearance.

She felt as if the aging process was starting to make her look tired and angry, unlike her true self. Although she has a wonderful injector that did an amazing job with her preventative maintenance, certain aspects of aging were not as responsive ( , neck laxity, , puffy undereyes, elongated lip).

Eyes are the window to the soul! ✨

Under-eye bags are not limited to the aging face. In fact, I treat a large amount of patients in their 20s-30s that suffer with this, usually due to genetics.

You may notice that no amount of sleep, diet, or non-invasive approaches address your bags. Although these may be factors, it is not always the solution. Just know that you are not alone and there is hope!

Luckily, a lower blepharoplasty procedure can be performed to release the fat pads and move them down into the tear trough below. This decreases the puffy appearance while simultaneously filling in the shadows below. This is one of the most rewarding procedures to perform!

Note that the photos are taken without flash to maximize the shadowing caused by undereye bags. The effect is accentuated by looking up as the fat pads are pushed forward by the eye. It’s essential that both preop and postop photos are taken in the same standardized position for the most accurate representation!
